Comparison of Gamma Ray Effects on Eproms and (Eproms)-P-2

AB  - This paper compares the reliability of standard commercial Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory (EPROM) and Electrically Erasable Programmable Read Only Memory ((EPROM)-P-2) components exposed to gamma rays. The results obtained for CMOS-based EPROM (NM27C010) and (EPROM)-P-2 (NM93CS46) components provide the evidence that EPROMs have greater radiation hardness than (EPROMS)-P-2. Moreover, the changes in EPROMs are reversible, and after erasure and reprogramming all EPROM components restore their functionality. On the other hand, changes in (EPROMs)-P-2 are irreversible. The obtained results are analyzed and interpreted on the basis of gamma ray interaction with the CMOS structure.

Influence of gamma and X radiation on gas-filled surge arrester characteristics

AB  - This paper aims to find the possibility of stabilizing the gas-filled surge arresters (GFSA) static working point in gamma- and X-radiation fields by an appropriate choice of constructive parameters. The observed effects on Some commercial components have been compared to the originally developed GFSA model with the aim of improving the characteristics of the commercial components. The type of noble gas, the pressure in the gas chamber, the inter-electrode gap value, the electrode material, and the manner of electrode surface processing are used as variable parameters. The obtained results are significant for a better understanding of the prebreakdown effects in gases at low pressures, but also have practical importance for the manufacturer of GFSAs.

Computer simulation of gamma irradiation energy deposition in MOSFET dosimeters

AB  - The application of MOSFETs as detectors or device components in pulse power technique requires an investigation of their characteristics in radiation fields. Computing possibilities of the renowned programs FOTELP and PENELOPE for determining the energy deposited in MOISFET structure and dose distribution within microscopic dimensions of the dosimeter sensitive volume were presented in this paper. Based on the obtained results, qualitative conclusions were drawn about the values of energy deposited in different material zones having various dimensions. The difference between the two codes used for calculations in materials physics and semiconductor technics, basically originates from the different physical models for numerical simulation of photon, positron, and electron transport through various materials.

The influence of gamma and X-radiation on pre-breakdown currents and resistance of commercial gas filled surge arresters

AB  - The aim of this paper is to examine the influence of gamma and X-radiation on relevant characteristics of commercial gas filled surge arresters in the d. c. regime. This question is very important because of the wide application of gas filled surge arresters in telecommunications, military industry and space technology. We found that both types of radiation had significant influence on the performance of gas filled surge arresters.
AB  - Ciq ovog rada je da se ispita uticaj gama i X-zra~ewa na relevantne karakteristike nekih komercijalnih gasnih odvodnika prenapona u jednosmernom re`imu rada. Ovo pitawe je veoma zna~ajno zbog {iroke primene gasnih odvodnika prenapona u telekomunikacijama, vojnoj industriji i svemirskoj tehnologiji. Pokazano je da oba tipa zra~ewa zna~ajno uti~u na karakteristike gasnih odvodnika prenapona
