Abstract
Reported data suggest that the postirradiation treatment of U. V. and X-irradiated S.typhimurium with highly polymerized isologous deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) may prevent the death induced by radiation. In irradiated cultures treated with isologous DNA the number of colony - forming survivors is increased, whwreas in untreated control cultures this number continously decreases. The recovery, thus, reflected the reestablishment of cell division mechanism impaired by radiation. This effect of highly polymerized isologous DNA can not be considered as nutitional one, since it has not been observed with isologous DNA - digests, or with lower molecularweight DNA derivatives, or with heterologous DNA.
