dc.description.abstractMichael Pupin is a great Serbian-American inventor, professor and scientist; best known for his huge contributions to the development of modern telecommunication and X-ray imaging. Less is known that his doctoral dissertation falls within a scope of physical chemistry. Pupin΄s doctoral dissertation, entitled Osmotic pressure and his relationship to free energy was conducted under the mentorship of Helmholtz; can be considered as a pioneer theoretical research in a particular field of physical chemistry, chemical thermodynamics.
