Colloid particles and advanced materials
Abstract
This review reveals certain aspects of the preparation, properties, and applications of monodispersed metal (hydro) oxide sols. Methods for preparation of well defined colloidal metal oxides (including those of silicon, aluminium and iron) consisting of uniform particles of different crystal structures, shapes, and sizes are described The stability of these colloids in the presence of various electrolytes are discussed. Finally, use of the named sols for preparation of adsorbents and ceramics as well as their application to study various phenomena are presented.
