The engineering of materials and devices on the nanometer scale is of considerable current interest in electronics, optics, catalysis, ceramics and magnetic storage. Different methodologies of processing that lead to the formation of inorganic and hybrid composites using colloidal solution containing nanoparticles as a precursor were described in this review. The obtained composite materials (nanoparticles-polymer composites, hollow TiO2 spheres) were characterized by appropriate experimental techniques and possible applications were discussed.en
