AB - The creation of novel biocompatible Ti-based thin films with a Zr or Cu sub-layer modified by ultrafast laser processing is studied. To prepare bioactive surfaces, ultrafast laser processing is focused on the formation of laser-induced periodic surface structures (LIPSS) with the production of oxide phases at the surfaces. Two differently designed multilayer thin films Ti/Cu/Ti and Ti/Zr/Ti were deposited on the silicon using the ion sputtering method. The Ti thin film contains Cu or Zr sub-layer (thickness of 10 nm) at the 10 nm below the surface. The composition and surface morphology variations for these systems, deposited and laser-processed under the same experimental conditions, were caused only by different thermo-physical properties of the sub-layer (Cu or Zr). The surface morphology in the form of LIPSS, led to improved cell adhesion and stable cells/thin films interface compared to as-deposited samples. Field-emission scanning electron microscopy and MTT analysis revealed that laser processing of both systems increased cell adhesion, proliferation, and metabolical activity of L929 mouse fibroblast cells compared to non-modified flat surfaces. Overall, the biocompatibility of Zrcontaining thin films is better than Ti/Cu/Ti system. Further, laser processing and formation of LIPSS makes Ti/Zr/Ti thin films excellent candidate for biomedical

AB - Bacterial infections and resistance to antibiotics are increasingly severe problems. In recent years, Staphylococcus species have emerged as important pathogens in animals and humans. Current therapeutic methods against these species have serious disadvantages; therefore new agents with antibacterial potential, such as plant-based substances, are very important in therapy. We report a pilot study with new method of fractioning the dehydrogenate polymer DHP obtained from coniferyl alcohol and application of the low-MW fractions of 200–3000 Da for antibacterial activity in healing animal lesions. In vivo experiments were conducted on the dogs having a skin lesion. Dogs were treated with the suspension containing the low-MW DHP fractions as the active ingredient, in combination with alginate for 7 days. Cytological smears and microbiological analyses of the affected area were performed. Staphylococcus spp. was isolated from lesions in all dogs from our research. The results show that the low-MW DHP suspension in alginate promotes skin healing and reduction of the infection of the lesions in the affected animals. Pharmaceutical composition containing the low-MW DHP fractions exerts a soothing effect on the subject in wound treatment. Reduction in the number of bacteria by 30% and more were noticed in 6 dogs, while in 4 dogs this percentage is above 50%. No side effects were noticed. Synthesized lignin oligomers may have a significant place as antimicrobial and skin healing agents, especially since an increasing number of multidrug-resistant staphylococci are found on the skin lesions in animals.

AB - The application of two-dimensional (2D) materials
has alleviated a number of challenges of traditional epitaxy and
pushed forward the integration of dissimilar materials. Besides
acting as a seed layer for van der Waals epitaxy, the 2D materials
being atom(s) thickhave also enabled wetting transparency in
which the potential field of the substrate, although partially
screened, is still capable of imposing epitaxial overgrowth. One of
the crucial steps in this technology is the preservation of the quality
of 2D materials during and after their transfer to a substrate of
interest. In the present study, we show that by honing the
achievements of traditional epitaxy and wet chemistry a hybrid
approach can be devised that offers a unique perspective for the
integration of functional oxides with a silicon platform. It is based
on SrO-assisted deoxidation and controllable coverage of silicon surface with a layer(s) of spin-coated graphene oxide, thus
simultaneously allowing both direct and van der Waals epitaxy of SrTiO3 (STO). We were able to grow a high-quality STO pseudosubstrate suitable for further overgrowth of functional oxides, such as PbZr1−xTixO3 (PZT). Given that the quality of the films grown
on a reduced graphene oxide-buffer layer was almost identical to that obtained on SiC-derived graphene, we believe that this
approach may provide new routes for direct and “remote” epitaxy or layer-transfer techniques of dissimilar material systems.

AB - Unlike its ferroelectric and magnetic properties [1], the electrochemical behavior of bismuth ferrite, BiFeO3 (BFO) has received less attention [2]. In this contribution, BFO was hydrothermally synthesized [3] to be examined as an electrode for metal- ion aqueous rechargeable batteries. BFO powder was first investigated in terms of structural and surface properties using X-ray diffraction and Thermally-Programmed Desorption methods and then characterized in Li and Na- containing aqueous electrolytes using Cyclic Voltammetry and Chronopotentiometry. BFO was found to be inactive within the electrochemical potential window of the aqueous electrolyte. However, its ability to be electrochemically transformed, under deep cathodic polarization, results in an active phase composed of Bi- and Fe-based oxides, as confirmed by Fourier-transform infrared and Raman spectroscopy. The redox behavior of BFO-derived oxide electrode is compared in both Li and Na -based aqueous electrolytes and discussed in the context of tailoring electrochemical properties for safe and sustainable metal-ion batteries.

AB - Development of a robust photocathode using lowcost and high-performing materials, e.g., p-Si, to produce clean fuel hydrogen has remained challenging since the semiconductor substrate is easily susceptible to (photo)corrosion under photoelectrochemical (PEC) operational conditions. A protective layer over the substrate to simultaneously provide corrosion resistance and maintain efficient charge transfer across the device is therefore needed. To this end, in the present work, we utilized pulsed laser deposition (PLD) to prepare a high-quality SrTiO3 (STO) layer to passivate the p-Si substrate using a buffer layer of reduced graphene oxide (rGO). Specifically, a very thin (3.9 nm ∼10 unit cells) STO layer epitaxially overgrown on rGO-buffered Si showed the highest onset potential (0.326 V vs RHE) in comparison to the counterparts with thicker and/or nonepitaxial STO. The photovoltage, flat-band potential, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy measurements revealed that the epitaxial photocathode was more beneficial for charge separation, charge transfer, and targeted redox reaction than the nonepitaxial one. The STO/rGO/Si with a smooth and highly epitaxial STO layer outperforming the directly contacted STO/Si with a textured and polycrystalline STO layer showed the importance of having a well-defined passivation layer. In addition, the numerous pinholes formed in the directly contacted STO/Si led to the rapid degradation of the photocathode during the PEC measurements. The stability tests demonstrated the soundness of the epitaxial STO layer in passivating Si against corrosion. This study provided a facile approach for preparing a robust protection layer over a photoelectrode substrate in realizing an efficient and, at the same time, durable PEC device.

AB - Triclosan (TCS) is a polychlorinated phenoxy phenol (PCPPs) used as a disinfectant and a broad-spectrum antibacterial and antifungal agent in personal hygiene products. TCS easily forms diphenyl ethers and dioxins, which are persistent organic pollutants. This work used a double approach for the TSC sensing: a) screen-printed (SPE) electrochemical platform for on-site application, modified with lanthanum iron oxide and graphitic carbon nitride composite (LaFeO3/Fe2O3@g-C3N4/SPE); and b) carbon paste electrode (CPE), modified with the same material and used in laboratory conditions. Linear range from 0.1 μM to 10 μM, the limit of detection (LOD) of 29 nM and the limit of quantification (LOQ) of 91 nM were obtained for CP electrode in BRBS pH 8. SPE showed the best analytical parameters in BRBS at pH 3, with a linear range from 0.3 μM to 7 μM, LOD of 0.09 μM and LOQ of 0.28 μM. Furthermore, the influence of potential interferents was investigated and proven to be negligible. Determination of TSC was performed to estimate the environmental impact of this compound as well as the practical usefulness of the proposed sensor in the real sample analysis, confirmed with a HPLC analysis. © 2022 Elsevier B.V.

AB - Herein, a screen–printed diamond electrode (SPDE) coupled with a “point-of-care” platform (30 µL-drop concepts, single-drop-detection approach) was successfully applied for the electrochemical determination of pterostilbene (PTS). Cyclic voltammetry identified irreversible oxidation of PTS, where oxidation peak was shown to be strongly dependent on the pH of the working environmental. Although the proposition of the detailed electrochemical oxidation mechanism of PTS goes out of the scope of the present research, we have determined the most probable reactive site of our analyte, by utilizing DFT-based reactivity descriptors (Fukui functions). For electrochemical quantification of PTS, oxidation peak at 0.32 V (vs. Ag/AgCl) was followed in presence of 0.5 mol L−1 of Briton–Robinson buffer solution (pH = 9). Coupled with the optimized parameters of differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), SPDE detected PTS in two linear ranges (first range was from 0.011 to 0.912 µmol L−1; second range was from 0.912 to 4.420 µmol L−1), providing the LOD and LOQ on a nanomolar level (3.1 nmol L−1 and 10.0 nmol L−1, respectively). The selectivity of the optimized DPV method was found to be excellent, with the current changes of less than 7%, in the presence of ten times higher concentrations of the certain interferences. The practical applicability of the SPDE and single-drop-detection approach in dietary supplements (with a declared PTS content of 50 mg/tablet), with the recovery values ranging from 95 to 102%, shows that the developed method has high potential for precise and accurate PTS detection, as well as exceptional miniaturization possibilities of relevant equipment for on-site sensing.

AB - Stable, water-soluble titanium complexed with mandelic acid was used as a precursor for titanium phosphorus double oxide obtained in hydrothermal conditions in the presence of phosphoric acid. Surprisingly, hydrolysis of organic complexes provided a microstructured sphere with narrow size distribution, low aggregation and a small fraction of morphological irregularities. Obtained microspheres had a complex structure comprised of flakes, whose size could be manipulated with temperature conditions. Samples were found to be electrochemically active against sulcotrione, a well-recognized herbicide. Electrochemical sensors based on the synthesized microspheres were successfully adapted for natural water reservoir analysis and exhibited low levels of detection of 0.61 µM, limit of quantification of 1.86 µM, wide dynamic linear range from 2 to 200 µM, good selectivity, excellent reproducibility and in-time stability.

AB - There are ten million people in the world who have Parkinson’s disease. The most potent medicine for Parkinson’s disease is levodopa (L-DOPA). However, long-term consumption of L-DOPA leads to the appearance of side effects, as a result of which the control and monitoring of its concentrations are of great importance. In this work, we have designed a new electrochemical sensor for detecting L-DOPA using a carbon paste electrode (CPE) modified with Eu2O3@Cr2O3 composite nanoparticles. Rare earth elements, including Eu, are increasingly used to design new electrode nanocomposites with enhanced electrocatalytic properties. Europium has been considered a significant lanthanide element with greater redox reaction behavior. We conducted a hydrothermal synthesis of Eu2O3@Cr2O3 and, for the first time, the acquired nanoparticles were used to modify CPE. The proposed Eu2O3@Cr2O3/CPE electrode was investigated in terms of its electrocatalytic properties and then used to develop an analytical method for detecting and quantifying L-DOPA. The proposed sensor offers a wide linear range (1–100 µM), high sensitivity (1.38 µA µM−1 cm−2) and a low detection limit (0.72 µM). The practical application of the proposed sensor was investigated by analyzing commercially available pharmaceutical tablets of L-DOPA. The corresponding results indicate the excellent potential of the Eu2O3@Cr2O3/CPE sensor for application in real-time L-DOPA detection.

AB - In this paper we report the luminescence properties of nanosized undoped and Eu2+ (1%) doped SrAl2O4 phosphors. The samples were prepared by combustion method at 600 ◦C followed by annealing of the resultant combustion ash at 1000 ◦C in a reductive (Ar + H2) atmosphere. Photo luminescence (PL) and cathodoluminescence (CL) analyses were applied to characterize the phosphors. The qualitative energy level scheme of doped crystal SrAl2O4:Eu2+ and nature of defects in undoped phosphor is proposed and discussed. Within a simplified model of a single vibration and linear vibronic coupling the shape-function of the vibrationally assisted band (Pekarian) is analyzed with the emphasis on the vibrational structure. We propose an approximate approach to pass from the discrete Pekarian distribution to the structureless crystal field spectra taking into account phonon dispersion. This approach is expected to be useful for the description of the shape of the bands when the electronic levels are close to the conduction band of the host crystal.

AB - In this investigation, samples of strontium-gadolinium-oxide (SrGd2O4) doped with different Yb3+ (2, 4 and 6 at%) and constant Ho3+ (1 at%) contents and co-doped with Bi3+ (2 at%) were prepared using the glycine-assisted sol–gel method. The pure orthorhombic SrGd2O4 phase, space group Pnma, was revealed using X-ray diffraction in all samples. Transmission electron microscopy discovered agglomerated clusters of spherical particles measuring approximately 150 nm in size. The inclusion of Bi3+ ions into the structure influenced the morphology since the formation of larger grains was observed, with sizes reaching up to ∼1.7 μm. The uniform distribution of all constitutive elements was confirmed by energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. In all samples, up-conversion emission spectra revealed two dominant green (540 and 550 nm), red (671 nm), and infrared (758 nm) emission lines, due to the 5F4,5S2→5I8, 5F5→5I8, and 5F4,5S2 → 5I7 transitions, respectively. The sample co-doped with Bi3+ showed the most intense photoluminescent emissions, shorter luminescence decay, and the highest quantum yield. Additionally, a significant decrease in the energy band gap value was detected using diffuse reflectance spectroscopy for this sample. Methylene blue was used as a test pollutant to investigate its photocatalytic efficiency under simulated sunlight irradiation. The results show that Bi3+ co-doping deteriorates the photocatalytic efficiency of the SrGd2O4:Yb3+/Ho3+ phase by reducing hydroxyl radical formation.

AB - The importance of structural disorder of crystal lattice for the formation of the optical properties of impurity ions is studied by evaluating the optical properties of Cr3+ impurity ions in Mg1-xZnxAl2O4:Cr3+ (x = 0; 0.25; 0.50; 0.75; 1.0) spinel solid solutions. It is demonstrated that the gradual replacement of Zn by Mg, which transforms the normal spinel ZnAl2O4 into the inverse spinel MgAl2O4, leads to an enhancement of the Cr3+ red emission. In addition, the Cr3+ decay rate (inverse to the emitting excited state lifetime) increases linearly when Zn is gradually replaced by Mg. These observations are explained by the lifting of the parity selection rule due to the random distribution of the Zn and Mg cations in the second coordination sphere around the emitting ion, which lowers the local symmetry at the impurity ion site. The strategy of deliberately creating disorder in the crystalline lattice is a successful way of increasing brightness and decreasing the excited state lifetime of the impurity ions, which can be applied for improving emission properties of the phosphor materials used in solid state lighting.

AB - Thyroid nodules (TN) are localized morphological changes in the thyroid gland and can be benign or malignant. Objective: The present study investigates the relationships between biochemical markers in serum (s) and their homologs in washout (w) after fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) of the TN of interest and their correlation with cytology specimen findings. We investigated the relationships between serum biochemical markers nitric oxide (NO), thyroglobulin (TG), and calcitonin (CT), their homologs in washout after FNAB of the TN of interest, and cytology findings of biopsy samples classified according to the Bethesda system for thyroid cytopathology in this study, which included 86 subjects. Results: Washout TG (TGw) level positively correlates with the cytology finding of the biopsy. A higher level of TGw correlates with higher categories of the Bethesda classification and indicates a higher malignant potential. The levels of serum NO (NOs), serum TG (TGs), serum CT (CTs), and washout CT (CTw) do not correlate with the cytology finding of the biopsy, and the higher levels of washout NO (NOw) correspond to the more suspicious ultrasound findings. The findings of our study suggest that TGw and NOw could be used as potential predictors of malignancy in TN.

AB - COVID-19 is a viral respiratory infection induced by the newly discovered coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. miRNA is an example of a strong and direct regulator of a gene's transcriptional activity. The interaction between miRNAs and their target molecules is responsible for homeostasis. Virus-derived and host-derived miRNAs are involved in the activity of hiding from immune system cells, inducing the inflammatory reaction through interplay with associated genes, during SARS-COV-2 infection. Interest in miRNAs has raised the comprehension of the machinery and pathophysiology of SARS-COV-2 infection. In this review, the effects and biological roles of miRNAs on SARS-CoV-2 pathogenicity and life cycle are described. The therapeutic potential of miRNAs against SARS-CoV-2 infection are also mentioned.

AB - Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a group of metabolic disorders defined by hyperglycemia induced by insulin resistance, inadequate insulin secretion, or excessive glucagon secretion. In 2021, the global prevalence of diabetes is anticipated to be 10.7% (537 million people). Noncoding RNAs (ncRNAs) appear to have an important role in the initiation and progression of DM, according to a growing body of research. The two major groups of ncRNAs implicated in diabetic disorders are miRNAs and long noncoding RNAs. miRNAs are singlestranded, short (17–25 nucleotides), ncRNAs that influence gene expression at the post-transcriptional level. Because DM has reached epidemic proportions worldwide, it appears that novel diagnostic and therapeutic strategies are required to identify and treat complications associated with these diseases efficiently. miRNAs are gaining attention as biomarkers for DM diagnosis and potential treatment due to their function in maintaining physiological homeostasis via gene expression regulation. In this review, we address the issue of the gradually expanding global prevalence of DM by presenting a complete and upto-date synopsis of various regulatory miRNAs involved in these disorders. We hope this review will spark discussion about ncRNAs as prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic tools for DM. We examine and synthesize recent research that used novel, high-throughput technologies to uncover ncRNAs involved in DM, necessitating a systematic approach to examining and summarizing their roles and possible diagnostic and therapeutic uses.

We examine and synthesize recent research that used novel, high-throughput technologies to uncover ncRNAs involved in DM, necessitating a systematic approach to examining and summarizing their roles and possible diagnostic and therapeutic uses.",

AB - Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been investigated extensively in the past twenty years as a sensitizing agent in photon radiotherapy. Targeted delivery of AuNPs to specifc sites in cells and tissues contributes to highly localized radiation dose enhancement, whereby the surrounding healthy structures can be largely spared from the unwanted radiation efects. Te efciency of introduced AuNPs with regard to dose enhancement depends on the properties of the nanoparticles since not all of deposited radiation energy reaches the intended biological target but is partially absorbed within the nanoparticles themselves or distributed elsewhere. Te present paper investigates the infuence of AuNP shape and localization on the enhancement and intracellular distribution of deposited energy in radiation therapy with photons. Energy deposition patterns are calculated with nanoscale accuracy through Monte Carlo simulations of radiation transport, which are optimized to accommodate a structured geometrical representation of the region loaded with AuNPs, i.e., to allow discrete modeling of individual nanoparticles. Same-volume nanoparticles of three commonly encountered shapes—nanospheres, nanorods, and square nanoplates—are examined, in order to inspect the diferences in the propagation and absorption of secondary charged particles produced by the incident photons. Five diferent spatial distributions of spherical AuNPs at the single-cell level are studied in the simulations and compared according to the energy deposited in the cell nucleus. Photon energy, nanoparticle size, and concentration are also varied across simulation runs, and their infuence is analyzed in connection to nanoparticle shape and localization. Te obtained results reveal how the investigated nanoparticle properties afect their dose-enhancing ability and irradiation specifcity in AuNP-augmented radiotherapy.

AB - Acute kidney injury is a syndrome that occurs in different clinical situations, under the influence of different risk factors, in patients of all ages, especially those in the intensive care unit. The problem of acute kidney damage refers to numerous clinical situations, different disease mechanisms and poor outcomes. In addition, with the current definition of acute kidney injury, only one conventional marker is available for diagnosis in daily clinical practice. To recognize the disease promptly and start treatment, and thereby improving the outcome, the paper presents a model for recognizing acute kidney damage in the stage that requires hemodialysis treatment. The study included 86 hospitalized patients with acute renal impairment who were divided according to the stage of renal impairment at admission to hospital treatment into three groups. The assessment of acute renal impairment and the classification of disease stages were based on the diagnostic stages by the K / DIGO group. All examined patients were over 18 years of age. In the first stage of the disease it was 12.79%, in the second stage it was 15.12%, and in the third 72.09% of patients. Test methods included clinical processing, laboratory evaluation, functional tests, and echosonographic examination. Clinical data included demographic, comorbidity and vital parameters, baseline full blood count, biochemistry and renal function tests. Further laboratory investigations were performed as indicated clinically thereafter. Spot blood and urine samples were collected from all patients in the morning after overnight fasting. The neural network was created in feed forward back propagation of the connection between the data of 69 patients with 31 parameters. In pattern recognition, the neural network learns to recognize the conditions in which it was decided to send the patient to dialysis 10 or to send to classical treatment 01. The training function analyzed the patients separated in three special categories 80% training, 10% test and 10% validation. The algorithm of the learning function is a scaling gradient that adapts the input data to the output data. The neural network achieved a performance of 0.14322 in 6 epochs. In a test with the data of 17 patients, it was shown that the neural network indicates for which patients dialysis treatment is a better option that fits with AKI stage 3. For patients with the first and second stages of the disease, conservative treatment is a better therapeutic choice. This paper deals with a current topic by analyzing data using a neural network algorithm to help assess the stage of the disease in high-risk hospitalized patients with acute kidney injury and select treatment modalities. The conclusions derived from this analysis should help with stage recognition and the selection of treatment modalities for patients with acute kidney injury.

AB - The major bioactive component of black pepper (Piper nigrum) is piperine which has demonstrated beneficial therapeutic properties. The purpose of this research was to investigate the effects of different irradiation doses on the content of piperine in black pepper. Samples were irradiated with 60Co γ-rays (at absorbed doses of 0.5, 1, 3, 5, 7, 10, and 12 kGy). Thin-layer chromatography (TLC) and UV–Vis spectrophotometry methods were used for measuring the piperine content in the samples. TLC was performed using three mobile phases (1. toluene:ethyl acetate, 7:3 v/v; 2. acetone:n-hexane, 6:4 v/v; 3. toluene:methanol, 8.5:1.5 v/v) and the retention factor (R f) value for piperine was equal to 0.66, 0.94, and 0.67, respectively. The content of piperine in γ-irradiated samples of black pepper was found to be between 0.04 and 1.05% w/w from the spectrophotometry analyses. Irradiation slightly decreased the piperine content of black pepper. It was found that piperine crude yield from black pepper was from 1.10 (the unirradiated sample) to 1.69, 1.07, 0.60, 0.90, 0.30, 1.20, 0.80% for irradiated samples, respectively. Microbiological analyses were performed with standard plate count method, which resulted in a decreasing number of the total cell count of microbial cells with increasing the radiation dose. Treatment with irradiation reduced the population of bacteria by 4 logs.

AB - Objective: Hypovitaminosis D may be associated with an increased susceptibility to infection, more severe COVID-19 forms, and a higher risk of death. The objective of this study was to investigate any possible connections between vitamin D status [as measured by serum 25-hydroxyvitamin D (25(OH)D) levels] and COVID-19 severity. Patients and methods: In 2021, a cross-sectional study of consecutive adult COVID-19 patients was conducted. Anthropometric data, comorbidities, hospital setting, length of stay, respiratory support, outcome data, and vitamin D status were all evaluated. Results: The length of hospitalization among participants (n = 74; mean age 57.64 ± 17.83 years, 55.4% male) was 18.58 ± 10 days, the majority of the hospital setting was a medical ward (67.6%), and the respiratory support in the form of mechanical ventilation was represented by 12.2%. Hypertension (54.1%), obesity (64.9%), and overweight (64.9%) were the most common cardiometabolic risk factors. In the study group, 44.6% of participants had severe vitamin D deficiency (< 30 nmol/l), while 8.1% had vitamin D insufficiency (50 - 74.9 nmol/l). Furthermore, patients with severe COVID-19 (semi-intensive care unit, intensive care unit) had significantly lower serum 25(OH)D levels (32.9 vs. 20.5 nmol/l; p = 0.007). Participants with severe vitamin D deficiency were older and had more prevalent hypertension, requiring mechanical ventilation; 24.2% experienced a fatal outcome. Conclusions: Severe vitamin D deficiency may contribute significantly to the influence of other cardiometabolic risk factors in COVID-19.

AB - The study discusses the validity of the law of similarity for the impulse breakdown of gases at low pressure and small inter-electrode distances. The research has been done theoretically, experimentally and numerically. The experiments were conducted under well-controlled laboratory conditions. The combined measurement uncertainty was less than 5%. The experiments were carried out with gases SF6, N2 and He. The electrodes were made of copper, but also of metals with different values of the work function. The obtained results are presented through the impulse characteristics for similar systems. Such a presentation only provided qualitative information. In order to obtain quantitative information, a modified Wilcoxon Rank Sum Test (U test) was performed. The obtained results show that the law of similarity is valid for the DC breakdown of gases, but it is not valid for the impulse breakdown of gases. It can be concluded that the law of similarity is inapplicable for the design of gas-insulated systems under low pressure at small values of the inter-electrode distance.

AB - The study aims to achieve a simple, reliable, and significant lifetime extension of the high-voltage asynchronous machine in relation to the voltage endurance test. To achieve this goal, the focus was on achieving longer-lasting and more stable insulation of the stator package of an asynchronous machine. Longer-lasting and more stable insulation of a stator is achieved by reinforcing the weak points on its prefabricated multiturn coils. These reinforcements were performed with standard insulating materials that are used for the production of the prefabricated multiturn coils (because there is no data regarding the long-term behavior of new materials that show some better properties in laboratories, but only during short-term tests). With such reinforced weak spots based on prefabricated models, they were made by the classical procedure with the use of standardized tools. To track the effects of the improvement of the insulation characteristics of a stator, an algorithm was developed based on the law of increasing probability and the determination of lifetime curves to the voltage endurance test. The lifetime curves were determined by the method of increasing voltage with the transformation of the obtained results to the corresponding results by the constant voltage method. The applied algorithm that was formed for this study, had been verified with statistical reliability of 95%. The combined measurement uncertainty of the measurement procedure was about 5%.
