abstract = "Nanosize ferrite powders, binary Zn-ferrite and cation deficit ternary Zn-Mn ferrite, were synthesized by thermal decomposition of complexes with acetylacetonato ligands. By the ICP analysis and Rietveld refinements of the crystal structure we found cation deficit in the ternary sample. Nonstoichiometry in Zn-Mn ferrite is accompanied with the cation valence change, i.e. partial oxidation of Mn2+ to Mn4+ occurs. Magnetization measurements were carried out on a SQUID magnetometer in the 2-350 K temperature range. Several effects like splitting of ZFC and FC magnetization branches, no-saturation magnetization, hysteresis loop below TB and anhysteretic M(H) curves at 350 K, indicate superparamagnetism in studied samples. The nonsymmetrical FC hysteresis loops obtained for Zn-Mn ferrite are explained by the model of ordered core and spin-glass like shell. Anisotropy constant K of 1.1x105 erg/cm3 for ZnFe2O4 is calculated from ac susceptibility measurement at different frequencies.",
