Recycled Poly(ethylene Terephthalate) Based-Plasticizer for PVC Regranulates Production

AB  - Due to the increasing use and widespread of plastics, poly (ethylene terephthalate) (PET) and poly (vinyl chloride) (PVC) are becoming one of the major threats to the environment. The aim of this paper is obtaining plasticizers from recycled PET, and hot/cold mixing thereof with PVC to produce new materials. Plasticizer was obtained from PET using ethylene glycol (EG) in the presence of catalyst FASCAT 4100, followed by treatment with maleic anhydride and finally 2-ethylhexanol (2-EtHex). The obtained glycolysate and plasticizer, individually or mixtures thereof, were used for the production of polygranulates based on waste PVC in order to obtain an expanded mass of homogenized PVC with glycolysate/plasticizer. The abovementioned procedures and test results for the regranulates and products indicate that the proposed technology offers a solution to the problem of waste PET and PVC through transesterification in order to obtain plasticizer based on PET and EG, called 2-EtHex/MA/РG/PET/EG/MA/2-EtHex used in the processing of PVC waste and in regranulate. The obtained regranulates are further processed by injection molding or extrusion into commercial products such as slippers, footwear, boots, garden hoses, mats, floor mats, etc.

AB  - Electrochemical removal of organic pollutants represents an attractive methodology in water depollution. The key challenges for researchers comprise finding simple, affordable electrode materials with satisfactory efficiency in all ranges of pollutant concentration. Electrochemical oxidation of a mixture of phenol-based dyes: bromocresol green (BCG), cresol red (CR), and thymol blue (TB), in sulphate medium, at total concentration not exceeding 15 ppm, has been performed using simply prepared, low-cost composite electrodes, based on graphene nanoplatelets (GNP) and metallic oxides (TiO2 and SnO2) loaded on stainless steel substrate: GNP@SS, SnO2/GNP@SS, and TiO2/GNP@SS. Electrodes were characterised by XRD, FTIR, and electrochemical techniques. The degradation kinetics of initial dyes was tracked with UPLC and GC-MS chromatography for 6 h, at a current density of 10 mA/cm2. GC-MS analysis of the degradation products revealed oxidised aromatic compounds as the main products, while TOC analysis confirmed a total mineralisation extent in the range of 30–35%. The proposed degradation mechanism involves the attack of OH-radical, as the main oxidising agent, to the hydroxyl oxygens of dye phenolic rings. Obtained results provide useful information for the further development of affordable laboratory-scale and industrial systems for the complete removal of phenol-based compounds.

Heavy Metals Content in Selected Medicinal Plants Produced and Consumed in Serbia and Their Daily Intake in Herbal Infusions

AB  - The heavy metals content (HMs) was investigated in 14 different medicinal plants collected
from the three regions in Central Serbia, Zlatar, Sokobanja, and Kopaonik. The concentrations
of Cd, Cr, Ni, Hg and Pb were determined: Cd (<0.03–2.72 mg/kg); Cr (<0.08–12.1 mg/kg); Ni
(<0.08–12.2 mg/kg); Pb (0.6–49.0 mg/kg); the Hg concentration was below the detection limit of
0.06 mg/kg in all samples. The daily intake of HMs due to ingestion of 200 mL of herbal infusion
was in all cases below the recommended limit prescribed by the World Health Organization. The
estimated daily intake values were below the values for the oral reference dose regulated by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency (USA EPA). The target hazard quotient and hazard index for Cd,
Cr Ni, and Pb were below 1. Nevertheless, due to the tendency of heavy metals to accumulate in
the organism, attention should be paid to the daily intake of herbal infusion during long-term usage.
Specifically, it is recommended to consume not more than one cup (200 mL) of infusion per day made
from thyme (Mt. Zlatar) and blueberry (Mt. Kopaonik), and not more than two cups per day for
other herbs.

AB  - A novel and effective antibacterial agent based on a combination of copper nanoparticles (CuNPs) and polypyrrole (PPy) is presented. By using a straightforward in situ polymerization method in water, a copper/polypyrrole (Cu/PPy) nanocomposite with spherical CuNPs, around 25 nm in diameter, uniformly dispersed throughout a granular PPy matrix, was characterized and subjected to determination of antibacterial activity toward E. coli, and S. aureus. In this survey, the synergistic engagement of various features of CuNPs and PPy against bacteria was somewhat expected. After a 24 h interaction with S. aureus, already 2 ppm of Cu/PPy with only 9.45 wt% content of Cu is acting almost completely cidal, with 99.17 % bacterial growth inhibition, while 10 ppm has a cidal value of 99.99 % at the same time. Safe and environmentally acceptable concentrations of Cu/PPy indicate that it is convenient as an antibacterial agent for wider use.

According to the Tagger server, rs4040064, rs11628437, and rs7159490 cover 82% (r2 > 0.8) of the genetic variance of this HapBlock. Our aims were to examine the association of their haplotypes with first myocardial infarction (MI), changes in left ventricular echocardiographic parameters over time, and impact on plasma galectin-3 and LGALS-3 mRNA in peripheral blood mononuclear cells, both 6 months post-MI. The study group consisted of 546 MI patients and 323 controls. Gene expression was assessed in 92 patients and plasma galectin-3 in 189 patients. Rs4040064, rs11628437, rs7159490, and LGALS-3 mRNA expression were detected using TaqMan® technology. Plasma galectin-3 concentrations were determined by the ELISA method. We found that the TGC haplotype could have a protective effect against MI (adjusted OR 0.19 [0.05–0.72], p = 0.015) and that the GAC haplotype had significantly higher galectin-3 concentrations (48.3 [37.3–59.4] ng/mL vs. 18.9 [14.5–23.4] ng/mL, p < 0.0001), both in males and compared to the referent haplotype GGC. Higher plasma Gal-3 was also associated with higher NYHA class and systolic dysfunction. Our results suggest that variants tagging LGALS-3 HapBlock could reflect plasma Gal-3 levels 6 months post-MI and may have a potential protective effect against MI in men. Further replication, validation, and functional studies are needed.

This study aimed to determine the optimal experimental conditions for obtaining neutral and ionized C spectral lines and C2 and CN molecular band emission suitable for spectrochemical purposes. Evaluation of plasma parameters was done using several spectroscopic techniques. Stark profiles of appropriate C ionic lines were used to determine electron number density. The ratio of the integral intensity of ionic-to-atomic C spectral lines was used to determine the ionization temperature. A spectral emission of C2 Swan and CN violet bands system was used to determine the temperature of the colder, peripheral parts of plasma. We critically analyzed the use of molecular emission bands as a tool for plasma diagnostics and suggested methods for possible improvements.

AB  - To investigate the influence of spinel structure and sintering temperature on the functional properties of BaTiO3/NixZn1−xFe2O4 (x = 0, 0.5, 1), NiFe2O4, ZnFe2O4, and Ni0.5Zn0.5Fe2O4 were in situ prepared by thermal decomposition onto BaTiO3 surface from acetylacetonate precursors. As-prepared powders were additionally sintered at 1150 °C and 1300 °C. X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) coupled with electron dispersive spectroscopy (EDS) were used for the detailed examination of phase composition and morphology. The magnetic, dielectric, and ferroelectric properties were investigated. The optimal phase composition in the BaTiO3/NiFe2O4 composite, sintered at 1150 °C, resulted in a wide frequency range stability. Additionally, particular phase composition indicates favorable properties such as low conductivity and ideal-like hysteresis loop behavior. The favorable properties of BaTiO3/NiFe2O4 make this particular composite an ideal material choice for further studies on applications of multi-ferroic devices.

AB  - Organophosphates are mainly used as pesticides to protect crops from pests. Because organophosphate pesticides’ use has expanded dramatically worldwide, accurate monitoring of their concentrations in the environment and food has become of utmost importance. Once considered acutely toxic due to acetylcholinesterase inhibition, nowadays organophosphates are classified as extremely dangerous compounds, with a broad spectrum of toxicity types, by the World Health Organization. Having in mind their extensive use and diverse harmful effects, it is necessary to develop easy, rapid, and highly sensitive methods for organophosphate detection. Regardless of numerous conventional techniques for organophosphate detection, the construction of portable sensors is required to make routine analysis possible. Extensive literature on the different sensors for organophosphate detection is available. Many of them rely on the use of various carbon materials. There are many classes of carbon materials used in sensing element construction, as well as supporting materials. This review focuses on electrochemical and optical sensors based on carbon materials. Special attention is paid to the selectivity, sensitivity, stability, and reusability of reviewed sensors.

AB  - Cardiovascular (CV) disorders are steadily increasing, making them the world’s most prevalent health issue. New research highlights the importance of insulin-like growth factor 1 (IGF-1) for maintaining CV healthMethodsWe searched PubMed and MEDLINE for English and non-English articles with English abstracts published between 1957 (when the first report on IGF-1 identification was published) and 2022. The top search terms were: IGF-1, cardiovascular disease, IGF-1 receptors, IGF-1 and microRNAs, therapeutic interventions with IGF-1, IGF-1 and diabetes, IGF-1 and cardiovascular disease. The search retrieved original peer-reviewed articles, which were further analyzed, focusing on the role of IGF-1 in pathophysiological conditions. We specifically focused on including the most recent findings published in the past five years.ResultsIGF-1, an anabolic growth factor, regulates cell division, proliferation, and survival. In addition to its well-known growth-promoting and metabolic effects, there is mounting evidence that IGF-1 plays a specialized role in the complex activities that underpin CV function. IGF-1 promotes cardiac development and improves cardiac output, stroke volume, contractility, and ejection fraction. Furthermore, IGF-1 mediates many growth hormones (GH) actions. IGF-1 stimulates contractility and tissue remodeling in humans to improve heart function after myocardial infarction. IGF-1 also improves the lipid profile, lowers insulin levels, increases insulin sensitivity, and promotes glucose metabolism. These findings point to the intriguing medicinal potential of IGF-1. Human studies associate low serum levels of free or total IGF-1 with an increased risk of CV and cerebrovascular illness. Extensive human trials are being conducted to investigate the therapeutic efficacy and outcomes of IGF-1-related therapy.DiscussionWe anticipate the development of novel IGF-1-related therapy with minimal side effects. This review discusses recent findings on the role of IGF-1 in the cardiovascular (CVD) system, including both normal and pathological conditions. We also discuss progress in therapeutic interventions aimed at targeting the IGF axis and provide insights into the epigenetic regulation of IGF-1 mediated by microRNAs.

Characterization and photocatalytic application of SrGd2O4 doped with rare earth Sm3+ and Dy3+ ions

AB  - A set of samples of SrGd2O4 doped with Sm3+ and Dy3+with different concentrations was prepared via glycine-assisted combustion synthesis. All of the diffraction peaks are related to the pure orthorhombic lattice SrGd2O4, according to X-ray Powder Diffraction investigation. The Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy chemical characterization revealed that the structure included all desired elements. Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy was used to capture the morphology, which showed porous aggregated particles consisting of roughly 50 nm-sized spherical particles. The Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry was used to establish where voids originated, and the results showed that samples have a real permanent 3D pore structure. X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy verified the successful incorporation of Dy3+ and Sm3+ ions in the matrix. Down-conversion luminescence spectra were recorded and typical emission transitions were found for either Sm3+ (4G5/2→6H5/2, 4G5/2→6H7/2, 4G5/2→6H9/2) or Dy3+ (4F9/2→6H15/2 and 4F9/2→6H13/2) ions. Calculation of the energy band gap using UV-VIS Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy yielded values of 4.3 eV for both doped samples. Using UV-VIS Absorption Spectroscopy, the photocatalytic degradation process was observed. After 4 h of simulating Sun exposure, an analysis of the photocatalytic properties revealed that approximately 50% of the Rhodamine B had been mineralized.

X-ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy verified the successful incorporation of Dy3+ and Sm3+ ions in the matrix. Down-conversion luminescence spectra were recorded and typical emission transitions were found for either Sm3+ (4G5/2→6H5/2, 4G5/2→6H7/2, 4G5/2→6H9/2) or Dy3+ (4F9/2→6H15/2 and 4F9/2→6H13/2) ions. Calculation of the energy band gap using UV-VIS Diffuse Reflectance Spectroscopy yielded values of 4.3 eV for both doped samples. Using UV-VIS Absorption Spectroscopy, the photocatalytic degradation process was observed. After 4 h of simulating Sun exposure, an analysis of the photocatalytic properties revealed that approximately 50% of the Rhodamine B had been mineralized.",

AB  - Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) is a polymer material widely used in dental applications due to its excellent biocompatibility, stable physicochemical properties, easy manipulation, and low cost. The combination of biocompatible polymers and ceramics has great potential for the development of materials in the dental industry with improved mechanical properties. The addition of Al2O3 nanoparticles to PMMA can significantly improve its compressive and flexural strengths and wear resistance. Since this material is used in dental applications, it requires a high degree of product sterility. This can easily be achieved with gamma radiation treatment. Gamma radiation not only ensures the sterility of the product but can also affects changes in numerous material properties. The aim of this paper is to determine the influence of different doses of gamma radiation on the microbiological purity and changes in the mechanical and thermal properties of the PMMA/Al2O3 composite as well as the microstructural and color changes. It was found that the dose of radiation of 25 kGy is sufficient for complete sterilization of the product. This radiation dose improves the mechanical properties of the material and thermal stability. On the other hand, the dose of 25 kGy does not affect the morphology of the exposed sample and has small effect on the color change.

AB  - Multicomponent oxide with pyrochlore structure (A2B2O7), containing 7 different A-site cations and 3 B-site cations in equiatomic amounts, was synthesized. Powders with nominal composition (La1/7Sm1/7Nd1/7Pr1/7Y1/7Gd1/7Yb1/7)2(Sn1/3Hf1/3Zr1/3)2O7 were fabricated through a reaction of metal nitrates (A-site) and metal chlorides (B-site) with sodium hydroxide during the solid state displacement reaction. Room temperature synthesis initially resulted in the obtainment of amorphous powders, which crystallized after subsequent calcination to form single crystalline compounds. Crystalline high-entropy ceramic powders formation took place at temperatures as low as 750 °C. During calcination, defective fluorite (F-A2B2O7) and crystal pyrochlore (Py-A2B2O7) structures coexist. A large number of cations induce the obtainment of stable high-entropy pyrochlores. Results showed that sintering at 1650 °C lead to pure crystalline single-phase pyrochlore formation. High-density ceramic, free of additives, was obtained after powders were compacted and subjected to pressureless sintering at 1650 °C. Multicomponent pyrochlore structure was investigated using the theoretical and experimental multi-methodological approach.

AB  - In this study, plasma induced by a nanosecond Nd:YAG laser on thin oil films deposited on a silica wafer was characterized by evaluating the main plasma parameters. Spatially and temporally integrated spectral measurements were performed under experimental conditions optimized for elemental analysis of trace metals in oil. Time-resolved values of the spectral line intensities, electron number density, and plasma temperature were obtained from time-integrated measurements by subtracting averaged spectra recorded at different time delays. The electron number density was estimated using the Stark broadened profile of the hydrogen Balmer alpha line. Ionization temperatures were derived from Mg ionic to atomic line intensity ratios. The obtained apparent values of time-resolved plasma parameters were in the range of 1.1×1017 cm-3 (1.5 μs) to 1.5×1016 cm-3 (4 μs) and 9400 K (3 μs) to 7200 K (5 μs), depending on the delay time. Emission spectra of C2 and CN molecules were used to evaluate the rotational and vibrational temperature.

AB  - N-doped TiO2/carbon composites (TiO2/CN) with different nitrogen content, were obtained starting from titanium isopropoxide and glucose, and by varying the amount of melamine, added to starting reaction mixture. For comparison, an undoped sample (TiO2/C) was also prepared. Structural and surface characteristics were determined through scanning electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, elemental analysis, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction and nitrogen adsorption–desorption isotherms. The photocatalytic activity of TiO2/CN composites was examined via photocatalytic degradation of methylene blue and multiclass pharmaceuticals from water solution. It was found that N doping of TiO2/carbon composites induced changes in structural and surface characteristics of TiO2/CN composites, improving their adsorption, but decreasing photocatalytic efficiency. Nevertheless, TiO2/CN0.05 composite obtained by the hydrothermal synthesis in the presence of glucose and 0.05 g melamine showed the highest efficiency for removing selected pharmaceuticals and methylene blue from aqueous solutions through the combined processes of adsorption in the dark, and photocatalytic degradation under UV and visible irradiation.

AB  - The ordinary (superconductor-insulator-superconductor) Josephson junction cannot exhibit chaos in the absence of an external ac drive, whereas in the superconductor-ferromagnet-superconductor Josephson junction, known as the φ0 junction, the magnetic layer effectively provides two extra degrees of freedom that can facilitate chaotic dynamics in the resulting four-dimensional autonomous system. One-parameter bifurcation diagrams are used to investigate various transitions that occur between quasiperiodic, chaotic, and regular regions as the dc-bias current through the junction, I, is varied. We also compute two-dimensional bifurcation diagrams, which are similar to traditional isospike diagrams, to display the different periodicities and synchronization properties in the I−G parameter space, where G is the ratio between the Josephson energy and the magnetic anisotropy energy. We find that as I is reduced the onset of chaos occurs shortly before the transition to the superconducting state. This onset of chaos is signaled by a rapid rise in supercurrent (IS⟶I) which corresponds, dynamically, to increasing anharmonicity in phase rotations of the junction.

AB  - The influence of chronopotentiometry response on the morphology and structure of galvanostatically synthesized tin dendriticparticles has been investigated. Sn dendrites were electrodeposited at the current density 1.5 times larger than the limiting diffusioncurrent density (− 3 mA cm−2) with various amounts of the electricity (200 and 400 mC), and the obtained morphologyand structure of the particles were characterized by SEM and XRD techniques, respectively. The strong effect of the amountof spent electricity on the morphology and structure of the particles was observed, and it is explained by morphological andstructural analysis of Sn particles produced potentiostatically at various cathodic potentials selected to be in line with therecorded chronopotentiometry response. The strong correlation among chronopotentiometry response, morphology, andstructure of the Sn dendrites was established. The spear-like and the dendrites with prismatic branches possessed the strong(200),(400) preferred orientation, and they were obtained with a chronopotentiometry response of about − 1200 mV vs. Ag/AgCl. The chronopotentiometry responses in the − 1210 ÷ − 1740 mV vs. Ag/AgCl range caused a formation of the fern-likedendrites with the strong (220),(440) preferred orientation. Based on the obtained results, it follows that the chronopotentiometryanalysis represents good diagnostic criteria for obtaining Sn powder particles of desired morphology and structure.

AB  - The human health risks of cadmium (Cd), lead (Pb), and nickel (Ni) in fifty regular and slim cigarette brands available in the Serbian market were evaluated. Distributions on per-cigarette basis concentrations of these metals, as determined by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry, were used as inputs in the probabilistic risk assessment. The contents of these metals in cigarettes varied significantly. Larger quantities of the studied metals were observed in regular cigarettes than in slim cigarettes, but the concentration levels per cigarette tobacco mass were higher in slim cigarettes. The metal concentrations in counterfeit cigarettes were marginally higher than those in authentic brands. Based on the mean concentrations, Pb was the most abundant toxic metal, followed by Ni and Cd. The calculated values of the cumulative hazard index (HI) and incremental lifetime cancer risk (ILCR) indicated a low noncarcinogenic risk and low but not negligible carcinogenic risk from Cd, Pb, and Ni. The mean HI and ILCR values obtained using probabilistic and deterministic approaches were similar. A Monte Carlo simulation was employed to minimize the uncertainty of health risk estimation. The sensitivity analysis revealed that the most influential factor was cigarette mass followed by Cd content.

AB  - Bisphenol A (BPA) is an organic pollutant that is widely spread in waterbody with effluents as a result of its extensive use in the plastics industry. It posses to the class of compounds that are endocrine disruptors and has a great negative impact on living organisms. Therefore, the progress in development of green technology for BPA removal from the aquatic media is crucial for environmental protection. This paper presents BPA removal by electrochemical oxidation on SnO2-MWCNT (tin dioxide-multi walled carbon nanotube) nanocomposite anode. The nanocomposite was structural and morphological characterized by X-ray powder diffraction and transmission electron microscopy. Electrochemical properties of the SnO2-MWCNT anode were investigated using cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry and electrical impedance spectroscopy. The electrochemical behavior of anodes toward BPA in sodium sulfate solutions has shown that BPA is oxidized by indirectly mechanism via hydroxyl radicals (verified by quenching tests). Electrolysis of BPA has been done in galvanostatic regime at current densities 2.5, 5.0, 10.0, 15.0 and 20.0 mA cm−2 in 0.1 M sodium sulfate supported electrolyte pH 4.0. Complete degradation of BPA was accomplished after 5 h of electrolysis at a current density of 20 mA cm−2. The proposed electrochemical technology using a low-cost SnO2-MWCNT electrode is promising for wastewater BPA removal.

AB  - Reactive species are highly-reactive enzymatically, or non-enzymatically produced compounds with important roles in physiological and pathophysiological cellular processes. Although reactive species represent an extensively researched topic in biomedical sciences, many aspects of their roles and functions remain unclear. This review aims to systematically summarize findings regarding the biochemical characteristics of various types of reactive species and specify the localization and mechanisms of their production in cells. In addition, we discuss the specific roles of free radicals in cellular physiology, focusing on the current lines of research that aim to identify the reactive oxygen species-initiated cascades of reactions resulting in adaptive or pathological cellular responses. Finally, we present recent findings regarding the therapeutic modulations of intracellular levels of reactive oxygen species, which may have substantial significance in developing novel agents for treating several diseases.

AB  - An imbalance between pro-oxidative and antioxidative cellular mechanisms is oxidative stress (OxS) which may be systemic or organ-specific. Although OxS is a consequence of normal body and organ physiology, severely impaired oxidative homeostasis results in DNA hydroxylation, protein denaturation, lipid peroxidation, and apoptosis, ultimately compromising cells’ function and viability. The thyroid gland is an organ that exhibits both oxidative and antioxidative processes. In terms of OxS severity, the thyroid gland’s response could be physiological (i.e. hormone production and secretion) or pathological (i.e. development of diseases, such as goitre, thyroid cancer, or thyroiditis). Protective nutritional antioxidants may benefit defensive antioxidative systems in resolving pro-oxidative dominance and redox imbalance, preventing or delaying chronic thyroid diseases. This review provides information on nutritional antioxidants and their protective roles against impaired redox homeostasis in various thyroid pathologies. We also review novel findings related to the connection between the thyroid gland and gut microbiome and analyze the effects of probiotics with antioxidant properties on thyroid diseases. AB  - MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are critical regulators of gene expression in healthy and diseased states, and numerous studies have established their tremendous potential as a tool for improving the diagnosis of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2D) and its comorbidities. In this regard, we computationally identify novel top-ranked hub miRNAs that might be involved in T2D. We accomplish this via two strategies: 1) by ranking miRNAs based on the number of T2D differentially expressed genes (DEGs) they target, and 2) using only the common DEGs between T2D and its comorbidity, Alzheimer’s disease (AD) to predict and rank miRNA. Then classifier models are built using the DEGs targeted by each miRNA as features. Here, we show the T2D DEGs targeted by hsa-mir-1-3p, hsa-mir-16-5p, hsa-mir-124-3p, hsa-mir-34a-5p, hsa-let-7b-5p, hsa-mir-155-5p, hsa-mir-107, hsa-mir-27a-3p, hsa-mir-129-2-3p, and hsa-mir-146a-5p are capable of distinguishing T2D samples from the controls, which serves as a measure of confidence in the miRNAs’ potential role in T2D progression. Moreover, for the second strategy, we show other critical miRNAs can be made apparent through the disease’s comorbidities, and in this case, overall, the hsa-mir-103a-3p models work well for all the datasets, especially in T2D, while the hsa-mir-124-3p models achieved the best scores for the AD datasets. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first study that used predicted miRNAs to determine the features that can separate the diseased samples (T2D or AD) from the normal ones, instead of using conventional non-biology-based feature selection methods.

AB  - In order to make the photothermal effect detectable from a sample with low optical absorption, an optically opaque layer must be applied on its surface. A model of optically induced temperature variations for such a structure is derived, with a very thin coating applied on the non-illuminated (back) side of the sample and neglecting heat flux dissipation in the coating. Validation of the model is performed by comparing the obtained results with the results for the corresponding two-layer structure model. The influence of optical absorption on surface temperature variations of both optically transparent and semi-transparent film, whether the film is a good or poor thermal conductor, is analyzed. It is shown that the effects of optical absorption in the coated structure can be observed through variations in the measured temperature, despite the low absorbance of the sample.

AB  - The presented research focused on the metallization of polyester, cotton, and polyamide 6.6 fabrics using the silver conductive complex to allow electric conductivity through the fabric's surface and enhance the fabric's mechanical properties. The method used for the metallization of studied fabrics does not require the use of expensive toxic chemicals or electricity, making the process more economically acceptable. The signal attenuation was measured in frequency ranges of 1–4 and 5–12 GHz. After five cycles of metallization, the polyester fabric has higher EMI effectiveness, in a lower range was 45.44 and 57.25 dB. X-ray powder diffractometry (XRD) and infrared spectroscopy with Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometry (FT-IR) characterize the modified tissues. Scanning electron microscopy coupled with energy-dispersion spectroscopy (SEM-EDS) was used to determine layers' morphology and elemental composition. Also, the water and air permeability of modified textiles was determined.
