Electrical properties and percolation concentration in Si3N4-TiN based composites

AB  - Electrical resistivity Of Si3N4-TiN based composites obtained during liquid phase sintering was investigated regarding the amount of TiN and influence of yttria and various rare earth oxides used as sintering aids. The electrical resistivity of composites decreases remarkably at certain concentration of conductive TiN phase, known as percolation concentration. In this paper different conductivity models have been reviewed in order to discuss the experimental results. On the basis of starting particle size and microstructure characteristics the computer simulation of conductivity-concentration curves have been done and corresponding parameters that determine the power of conductivity were determined.
