Application of coal combustion byproducts in self-compacting concrete: influence on flowability

AB  - Compared to traditional concrete, self-compacting concrete (SCC) demonstrates greater flowability, which is achieved by including an extra high percentage of ultra-fine particles. As a result, the required high paste content is obtained while the cement content is strictly limited. The coal combustion byproduct (fly ash) is one of the most efficient SCC fillers because it extends the lifecycle of SCC by improving its microstructural properties, strength, and durability. In this study, the amounts of fly ash in SCC compositions varied. The changes in physical and mechanical characteristics of fresh SCC samples related to variations in the water/binder ratio were monitored

AB  - Зрно агрегата од рециклираног бетона се састоји из зрна оригиналног агрегата и слоја цементног малтера који потиче од старог бетона. Физичке и механичке карактеристике рециклираног агрегата зависе од карактеристика и количине преосталог малтера. Уклањање и очвршћавање преосталог малтера су две главне методе за побољшавање перформанси рециклираног агрегата. Рад садржи преглед објављених метода, истичући њихове предности и недостатке како би се олакшао избор и омогућио даљи развој најпогодније методе.
AB  - Recycled concrete aggregate consists of the original aggregate and cement mortar layer remaining of the old concrete. Physical and mechanical properties of recycled aggregate dependent on the properties, as well as on the quantity of remaining mortar. Removing and strengthening the adhered mortar are the two main methods for improvement the properties of recycled concrete aggregate. This paper reviews the published improvement methods for recycled concrete aggregate, and points out their advantages and disadvantages so as to facilitate the selection and further development of suitable enhancement methods for recycled concrete aggregate.
