AB - The aim of this work was to determine the influence of accelerator type on curing behavior and properties of sulphur vulcanized rubber blend based on natural rubber (NR) and chlorosulphonated polyethylene (CSM). In NR/CSM compounds filled with carbon black three types of accelerator were used: N-cyclohexylbenzothiazylsulphenamide (CBS), tetramethylthiuram disulphide (TMTD), and 2-mercaptobenzothiazol (MBT). The curing characteristics were estimated using oscillating disk rheometer. The results revealed that the accelerator type not only affects the cure characteristics, but also has great influence on the mechanical properties of obtained elastomers. It was determined that the tensile strength of rubber blends cured in the presence of TMTD was relatively high.

AB - The properties of chlorosulphonated polyethylene (CSM) rubber, acrylonitrile rubber (NBR) and their blend (50/50 w/w) were studied. Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) studies supported that CSM/NBR rubber blend is self curable, when cross-linking takes place between acrylonitrile groups of NBR and -SO(2)Cl groups or in situ generated allyl chloride moieties of CSM. The thermal stability of vulcanizates was analyzed in nitrogen by thermogravimetry. It was found that the initial degradation temperature of elastomer based on CSM rubber is lower than of pure NBR rubber. By adding NBR to CSM rubbers, the degradation temperature of crosslinked material increased, indicating higher thermal stability. The activation energy for the degradation are determined using the Arrhenius equation The activation energies for the rubber blends are higher than for elastomers based on pure rubbers. It was found that the mass loss of the blends at any temperature was between those of the pure rubbers. The differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) was used for the glass transition temperature determination. It is estimated thermodynamic immiscibility of NBR/CSM blend based on noticed two different glass transition temperatures, corresponding to CSM and NBR rubbers.

For cure studies, torque-time curves were registered at different temperatures (150, 160 and 170°C). It was estimated that higher curing temperature cause decreas of the cure plateau torque and lead to higher crosslinking rate constant.

AB - The effect of recycled rubber powder (RRP) on cure characteristics of styrene butadiene and chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber blends (SBR/CSM) was investigated in the concentration range of 0 to 20 phr. Results indicate that the minimum torque and Mooney viscosity of the SBR/CSM rubber blends increase with increasing RRP loading whereas the scorch time and cure time exhibit a decreasing trend. Increasing RRP loading also gives SBR/CSM rubber compounds reduces the elongation at break but the tensile stress, M 200 (stress at 200% elongation) increases slightly.

AB - This paper deals with the control of the adhesion strength in metal-elastomer joints by fillers and the use of rubber blends to produce advanced high performance adhesive systems. The curing behavior of rubber compounds and dynamic mechanical properties of crosslinked rubber composites were considered in this technologically applicable study. The effects of two types of reinforcing filler, used to increase the adhesion strength between steel and rubber matrix based on acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR) and chlorosulfonated polyethylene rubber (CSM) was investigated. Precipitated silica (with the average size of primary particle 15 nm) and diatomaceous earth (with the average size of primary particle 28 mu m) were used for both rubber and its blend (NBR/CSM). The filler loading range was from 0 to 35 phr. The determination of curing characteristics was estimated by Monsanto Rheometer. The crosslink density of the rubber composites was determined by swelling measurement. Dynamic mechanical behavior was measured by mechanical spectroscopy (in a single cantilever bending mode).

abstract = "This paper deals with the control of the adhesion strength in metal-elastomer joints by fillers and the use of rubber blends to produce advanced high performance adhesive systems. Dynamic mechanical behavior was measured by mechanical spectroscopy (in a single cantilever bending mode).",

AB - The dependence of the Mooney scorch time and cure index on the blend ratio of chlorosulphonated polyethylene/natural rubber (CSM/SMR 20 CV) and chlorosulphonated polyethylene/chlorinated natural rubber (CSM/Pergut S 40) blends were determined in the temperature range from 120 C to 160 C using a Monsanto Mooney viscometer. Semi-efficient vulcanization systems were used for the study. The morphology of the fracture surface of the crosslinked systems was determined by Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM). The results showed that the scorch time decreased with increasing SMR 20 CV and Pergut S 40 contents. This observation is attributed to the increasing solubility of sulfur, as the content of SMR 20 CV and Pergut S 40 in the composition increased. For temperatures greater than 140 C, the dependence of the scorch time on blend ratios diminishes, as enough thermal energy is available to overcome the activation energy of vulcanization. The differing curing characteristics of the two blends is explained by the compatibility factor of the respective blend. Morphological analysis of the blends shows a very satisfactory agreement.

AB - Acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), polychloroprene rubber (CR). chlorosulphonated polyethylene rubber (CSM) and their blends were cross-linked with sulphur, ethylene-thiourea. magnesium oxide or their combination. The effect of nano- and micro- particle sized of 35 pphr SiO2 on the thermostability and surface morphology of all the crosslinked systems, vas investigated. Identification of the structure of nano- and micro- particle sized SiO2 filled NBR/CSM and CR/CSM crosslinked systems was carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) with an attenuated total reflectance (ATR) extension. The thermal stability of the nano- and micro- particle sized SiO2 filled NBR/CSM and CR/CSM crosslinked systems were carried out by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The glass transition temperature (T-g) of the samples was determined by differential Scanning calorimetry (DSC). The morphology of the fracture surface of the crosslinked systems was carried out by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The results show when filled with nano-particle sized of SiO2 NBR/CSM and CR/CSM polymer matrix have a strong peak from SiO-C at 1079 cm(-1). This suggests the an interaction between the SiO2, which should lead to an increased thermal stability, higher values of T-g, better dispersion the nano-SiO2 and more polish, without cracks than micro-filled NBR/CSM and CR/CSM crosslinked systems.

AB - Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) with 3-salicylidenehydrazono-2-indolinone were prepared. Their structure was established to be [MLC]Cl-. by using elemental analysis and molar conductivity. as well as AA, FTIR, UV/VIS and H-1-NMR spectroscopic methods. The spectral studies indicated a square-planar geometry for the Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes and a tetrahedral one for the Co(II) and Zn(II) complexes. The complexes were tested for antibacterial activity against Slaphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus D. Proteus mirabilis. Escherichia coli. Bacillus anthracis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Candida albicans.
