AB - In this paper we present results of the determination of the statistical precision of the branching fraction measurement, for Higgs decaying to 𝑍 𝑍∗ pairs at 3 TeV and 350 GeV CLIC. Measurements are simulated with the CLIC_ILD detector model, taking into consideration all relevant physics and beam-induced background processes. It is shown that the product of the branching fraction 𝐵𝑅(𝐻 → 𝑍 𝑍∗ ) and the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with a relative statistical uncertainty of 3% (20%) at 3 TeV (350 GeV) center-of-mass energy, using semileptonic final states and assuming an integrated luminosity of 5 (1) ab−1 .

AB - CP violation is one of Sakharov’s conditions for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. The experimentally observed size of CP violation is insufficient to account for this. Is CP violated in the Higgs sector? Could the SM-like Higgs boson be a mixture of CP even and CP odd states of an extended Higgs sector? With what precision could such effects be measured at future electron-positron colliders? These questions will be discussed in the light of the latest studies at ILC.

AB - The very forward region is one of the most challenging regions to instrument at a future e+e- collider. At CEPC, machine-detector interface includes, among others, a calorimeter dedicated for precision measurement of the integrated luminosity at a permille level or better. Here we review a feasibility of such precision, from the point of view of luminometer mechanical precision and positioning, beam-related requirements and physics background. A method of the effective center-of-mass determination from e+e-→μ+μ-, initially proposed for FCC, is also discussed for the CEPC beams.

abstract = "The violation of CP symmetry is one of Sakharov's conditions for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. Currently known sources of CP violation in the quark and neutrino sectors are insufficient to account for this. Is CP also violated in the Higgs sector? Could the SM-like Higgs boson be a mixture of even and odd CP states of an extended Higgs sector? With what precision could such effects be measured at future electron-positron colliders? These questions will be discussed in the light of the latest and ongoing studies at ILC.",

AB - In this paper we address the potential of a 3 TeV center-of-mass energy Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) to measure the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson decay to two photons. Since photons are massless, they are not coupled to the Higgs boson at tree level, but they are created in a loop exchange of heavy particles either from the Standard Model or beyond. Any deviation of the effective H → γγ branching ratio and consequently of the Higgs to photon coupling may indicate New Physics. The Higgs decay to two photons is thus an interesting probe of the Higgs sector, both at the running and future experiments. A similar study has been performed at 1.4 TeV CLIC, where the statistical uncertainty is determined to be 15% for an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab−1 with unpolarized beams. This study is performed using a full simulation of the detector for CLIC and by considering all relevant physics and beam-induced processes in a full reconstruction chain. The measurement is simulated on 5000 pseudo-experiments and the relative statistical uncertainty is extracted from the pull distribution. It is shown that the Higgs production cross-section in W+W− fusion times the branching ratio BR(H → γγ) can be measured with a relative statistical accuracy of 8.2%, assuming an integrated luminosity of 5 ab−1 with unpolarized beams.

AB - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a proposed future high-luminosity linear electron-positron collider operating at three energy stages, with nominal centre-of-mass energies s = 380 GeV, 1.5 TeV, and 3 TeV. Its aim is to explore the energy frontier, providing sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) and precision measurements of Standard Model processes with an emphasis on Higgs boson and top-quark physics. The opportunities for top-quark physics at CLIC are discussed in this paper. The initial stage of operation focuses on top-quark pair production measurements, as well as the search for rare flavour-changing neutral current (FCNC) top-quark decays. It also includes a top-quark pair production threshold scan around 350 GeV which provides a precise measurement of the top-quark mass in a well-defined theoretical framework. At the higher-energy stages, studies are made of top-quark pairs produced in association with other particles. A study of t̄tH production including the extraction of the top Yukawa coupling is presented as well as a study of vector boson fusion (VBF) production, which gives direct access to high-energy electroweak interactions. Operation above 1 TeV leads to more highly collimated jet environments where dedicated methods are used to analyse the jet constituents. These techniques enable studies of the top-quark pair production, and hence the sensitivity to BSM physics, to be extended to higher energies. This paper also includes phenomenological interpretations that may be performed using the results from the extensive top-quark physics programme at CLIC. AB - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future e(+) e(-) collider operating at centre-of-mass energies up to 3 TeV, providing sensitivity to a wide range of new physics phenomena and precision physics measurements at the energy frontier. This paper is the first comprehensive presentation of the Higgs physics reach of CLIC operating at three energy stages: root s = 350 GeV, 1.4 and 3 TeV. The initial stage of operation allows the study of Higgs boson production in Higgsstrahlung (e(+) e(-) - GT ZH) and WW-fusion (e(+) e(-) - GT H nu(e) (nu) over bar (e)), resulting in precise measurements of the production cross sections, the Higgs total decay width Gamma(H), and model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. Operation at root s GT 1 TeV provides high-statistics samples of Higgs bosons produced through WW-fusion, enabling tight constraints on the Higgs boson couplings. Studies of the rarer processes e(+) e(-) - GT t (t) over barH and e(+) e(-) - GT HH nu(e) (nu) over bar (e) allow measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs boson self-coupling. This paper presents detailed studies of the precision achievable with Higgs measurements at CLIC and describes the interpretation of these measurements in a global fit.

abstract = "The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future e(+) e(-) collider operating at centre-of-mass energies up to 3 TeV, providing sensitivity to a wide range of new physics phenomena and precision physics measurements at the energy frontier. This paper presents detailed studies of the precision achievable with Higgs measurements at CLIC and describes the interpretation of these measurements in a global fit.",

AB - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future electron-positron collider operating at centre-of-mass energies from a few hundred GeV up to 3 TeV. This paper discusses the Higgs and BSM physics reach of CLIC operating in several energy stages. The presented results are based on physics benchmark analyses using full detector simulations. The initial stage of operation near the top quark pair production threshold allows to study Higgs boson production in the Higgsstrahlung and WW-fusion processes, resulting in model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. High-energy operation, here assumed at 1.4 and 3 TeV, gives access to rarer Higgs decays and production processes such as double Higgs production, which is sensitive to the Higgs self-coupling. In the second part of the paper, examples for direct and indirect new physics searches are given. In both cases, the achievable sensitivities generally rise with the centre-of-mass energy.

AB - The measurement of the Higgs production cross-section times the branching ratios for its decays into mu(+)mu(-) and ZZ* pairs at a 1.4 TeV CLIC collider is investigated in this paper. The Standard Model Higgs boson with a mass of 126 GeV is dominantly produced via WW fusion in e(+)e(-) collisions at 1.4 TeV centre-of-mass energy. Analyses of both decay channels are based on a full simulation of the CLIC_ ILD detector. All relevant physics and beam-induced background processes are taken into account. An integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab(-1) and unpolarised beams are assumed. For the H - GT ZZ* decay, the purely hadronic final state (ZZ* - GT q (q) over barq (q) over bar) is considered as well as ZZ* decays into two jets and two leptons (ZZ* - GT qql(+)l(-)). It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a muon pair times the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with 38% statistical uncertainty. It is also shown that the statistical uncertainty of the Higgs branching ratio for decay into a Z boson pair times the Higgs production crosssection can be measured with a precision of 18.3% and 5.6% for the hadronic and semi-leptonic ZZ* decays, respectively.

AB - The potential for measuring the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson decay into two muons at a 1.4 TeV CLIC e(+)e(-) collider, presented at ICHEP2014, is addressed in this paper. The study is performed in the full Geant4 detector simulations of CLIC_ILD, taking into consideration all the relevant physics and the beam-induced background processes, as well as the instrumentation of the very forward region to tag forward electrons. In this analysis we show that the branching ratio BR(H - GT mu(+)mu(-)) times the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with 38% statistical accuracy at root s =1.4 TeV using an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab(-1). This study is part of an ongoing comprehensive Higgs physics benchmark study covering various Higgs production processes and decay modes, currently being carried out to estimate the full Higgs physics potential of CLIC.

AB - The future compact linear collider (CLIC) offers a possibility for a rich precision physics programme, in particular in the Higgs sector through the energy staging. This is the first paper addressing the measurement of the standard model Higgs boson decay into two muons at 1.4 TeV CLIC. With respect to similar studies at future linear colliders, this paper includes several novel contributions to the statistical uncertainty of the measurement. The latter includes the equivalent photon approximation employed to describe e(+) e(-) and e gamma interactions whenever the virtuality of the mediated photon is smaller than 4 GeV and realistic forward electron tagging based on energy deposition maps in the forward calorimeters, as well as several processes with the Beam-strahlung photons that results in irreducible contribution to the signal. In addition, coincidence of the Bhabha scattering with the signal and background processes is considered, altering the signal selection efficiency. The study is performed using a fully simulated CLIC_ILD detector model. It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a pair of muons BR(H - GT mu(+) mu(-)) times the Higgs production cross-section in WW-fusion sigma(H nu(nu) over bar) can be measured with 38% statistical accuracy at root s = 1.4 TeV, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab(-1) with unpolarised beams. If 80 % electron beam polarisation is considered, the statistical uncertainty of the measurement is reduced to 25 %. Systematic uncertainties are negligible in comparison to the statistical uncertainty.

AB - In this paper we describe a method of luminosity measurement at the future linear collider ILC that estimates and corrects for the impact of the dominant sources of systematic uncertainty originating from the beam-induced effects and the background from physics processes. Based on the relativistic kinematics of the collision frame of the Bhabha process, the beam-beam related uncertainty is reduced to a permille independently of the precision with which the beam parameters are known. With the specific event selection, different from the isolation cuts based on topology of the signal used at LEP, combined with the corrective methods we introduce, the overall systematic uncertainty in the peak region above 80% of the nominal center-of-mass energy meets the physics requirements to be at the few permille level at all ILC energies.

AB - The production of W bosons in association with two jets in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of root s = 7 TeV has been analysed for the presence of double-parton interactions using data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 pb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider. The fraction of events arising from double-parton interactions, f(DP)((D)), has been measured through the p(T) balance between the two jets and amounts to f(DP)((D)) = 0.08 +/- 0.01 (stat.) +/- 0.02 (sys.) for jets with transverse momentum p(T) GT 20 GeV and rapidity vertical bar y vertical bar LT 2.8. This corresponds to a measurement of the effective area parameter for hard double-parton interactions of sigma(eff) = 15 +/- 3 (stat.)(-3)(+5) (sys.) mb.

AB - A search is performed for WH production with a light Higgs boson decaying to hidden-sector particles resulting in clusters of collimated electrons, known as electron-jets. The search is performed with 2.04 fb(-1) of data collected in 2011 with the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in proton-proton collisions at root s = 7 TeV. One event satisfying the signal selection criteria is observed, which is consistent with the expected background rate. Limits on the product of the WH production cross section and the branching ratio of a Higgs boson decaying to prompt electron-jets are calculated as a function of a Higgs boson mass in the range from 100 to 140 GeV.

AB - In several extensions of the Standard Model, the top quark can decay into a bottom quark and a light charged Higgs boson H+, t - GT bH(+), in addition to the Standard Model decay t - GT bW. Since W bosons decay to the three lepton generations equally, while H+ may predominantly decay into tau nu, charged Higgs bosons can be searched for using the violation of lepton universality in top quark decays. The analysis in this paper is based on 4.6 fb(-1) of proton-proton collision data at root s = 7 TeV collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. Signatures containing leptons (e or mu) and/or a hadronically decaying tau (tau(had)) are used. Event yield ratios between e+ tau(had) and e + mu, as well as between mu + tau(had) and mu + e, final states are measured in the data and compared to predictions from simulations. This ratio-based method reduces the impact of systematic uncertainties in the analysis. No significant deviation from the Standard Model predictions is observed. With the assumption that the branching fraction B(H+ - GT tau nu) is 100%, upper limits in the range 3.2%-4.4% can be placed on the branching fraction B(t - GT bH(+)) for charged Higgs boson masses m(H+) in the range 90-140GeV. After combination with results from a search for charged Higgs bosons in t (t) over bar decays using the tau(had) + jets final state, upper limits on B(t - GT bH(+)) can be set in the range 0.8%-3.4%, for m(H+) in the range 90-160GeV.

AB - The results of a search for an excited bottom-quark b* in pp collisions at root s = 7 TeV, using 4.7 fb(-1) of data collected by the ATLAS detector at the LHC are presented. In the model studied, a single b*-quark is produced through a chromomagnetic interaction and subsequently decays to a W boson and a top quark. The search is performed in the dilepton and lepton + jets final states, which are combined to set limits on b*-quark couplings for a range of b*-quark masses. For a benchmark with unit size chromomagnetic and Standard Model-like electroweak b* couplings, b* quarks with masses less than 870 GeV are excluded at the 95% credibility level. (C) 2013 CERN. AB - Two-particle correlations in relative azimuthal angle (Delta phi) and pseudorapidity (Delta eta) are measured in root S-NN = 5.02 TeV p + Pb collisions using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The measurements are performed using approximately 1 mu b(-1) of data as a function of transverse momentum (p(T)) and the transverse energy (Sigma E-T(Pb)) summed over 3.1 LT eta LT 4.9 in the direction of the Pb beam. The correlation function, constructed from charged particles, exhibits a long-range (2 LT vertical bar Delta eta vertical bar LT 5) near-side (Delta phi similar to 0) correlation that grows rapidly with increasing Sigma E-T(Pb). A long-range away-side (Delta phi similar to pi) correlation, obtained by subtracting the expected contributions from recoiling dijets and other sources estimated using events with small Sigma E-T(Pb), is found to match the near-side correlation in magnitude, shape (in Delta eta and Delta phi) and Sigma E-T(Pb) dependence. The resultant Delta phi correlation is approximately symmetric about pi/2, and is consistent with a dominant cos2 Delta phi modulation for all Sigma E-T(Pb) ranges and particle p(T).

abstract = "Two-particle correlations in relative azimuthal angle (Delta phi) and pseudorapidity (Delta eta) are measured in root S-NN = 5.02 TeV p + Pb collisions using the ATLAS detector at the LHC. The resultant Delta phi correlation is approximately symmetric about pi/2, and is consistent with a dominant cos2 Delta phi modulation for all Sigma E-T(Pb) ranges and particle p(T).",

AB - This paper reports a measurement of the W+b-jets (W+b+X and W+b (b) over bar +X) production cross-section in proton-proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of 7 TeV at the LHC. These results are based on data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 4.6 fb(-1), collected with the ATLAS detector. Cross-sections are presented as a function of jet multiplicity and of the transverse momentum of the leading b-jet for both the muon and electron decay modes of the W boson. The W+b-jets cross-section, corrected for all known detector effects, is quoted in a limited kinematic range. Combining the muon and electron channels, the fiducial cross-section for W+b-jets is measured to be 7.1 +/- 0.5 (stat) +/- 1.4 (syst) pb, consistent with the next-to-leading order QCD prediction, corrected for non-perturbative and double-parton interactions (DPI) contributions, of 4.70 +/- 0.09 (stat) (+0.60)(-0.49) (scale) +/- 0.06 (PDF) +/- 0.16 (non-pert) (+0.52)(-0.38) (DPI) pb.
