AB - Adsorption of anthraquinone dye Acid Blue 111 by alumina-iron oxide doped particles prepared by sol-gel method from aqueous solutions was studied. The adsorbent morphology was revealed by FESEM and the crystallographic phase is analyzed by the XRD technique. The effect of adsorbate and adsorbent concentrations, pH value, type of adsorbent and thermodynamic parameters on dye removal by adsorption was studied. The change of dye concentration during the adsorbtion was followed using the UV-Visible spectrophotometer. The change of the adsorbent surface before and after dye removal was observed using the Fourier Transformation-infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR). The adsorption kinetics is in accordance with the pseudo-second-order kinetics model. The Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherm models were used to describe the adsorption process. The thermodynamic study of dye adsorption proves the process is spontaneous with exothermic nature. © 2021 Authors. Published by association for ETRAN Society.

AB - Photocatalytic degradation of the carbamate insecticide methomyl and its commercial product Lannate-90 in aqueous suspension of TiO2 and ZnO using an Osram ultra-vitalux lamp (315-400 nm) was investigated. The objective of the investigation was to study and compare the rates of photochemical degradation of the pure active compound and its formulated product in order to find out the impact of inert ingredients on degradation processes. The photochemical degradation of pure methomyl was found to be slower than the degradation of its commercial product Lannate-90. Photodegradation was investigated by UV-Vis spectrometry and HPLC, while mineralization was monitored using IC and TOC analyses. Light absorption capabilities of catalysts were characterized by ultraviolet-visible diffuse reflectance spectroscopy method, while the stability of catalysts was studied by infrared analyses. Degradation products of methomyl and its formulated product were identified by high-performance liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (HPLC-MS/MS) results and tentative photodegradation pathways were proposed. © 2020, CI and CEQ. The structure of the synthesized compounds has been confirmed by 1H NMR,13C NMR, FTIR, UV–Vis and XRD analysis techniques. The results obtained with thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) – derivative thermogravimetry (DTG) and differential thermal analysis (DTA) were combined with GC-mass spectral fragmentation to obtain thermal decomposition mechanism. Non-isothermal kinetics were monitored by application of TGA-DTG-DTA. For Kinetic behavior of the investigated dyes during their degradation in an inert atmosphere, Kissinger, Ozawa, Flynn-Wall-Ozawa (FWO) and Kissinger-Akahira-Sunose (KAS) isoconversional (model-free) methods were applied. It was found that different thermal stabilities of investigated dyes are the consequence of their different chemical structures, including diverse substituents. © 2019

AB - Ferric oxide doped alumina particles were prepared via the sol-gel method and their performance as Reactive Orange 16 adsorbent was evaluated. The concentrations of the Reactive Orange 16 were monitored using a UV-Vis spectrophotometer. The effect of Reactive Orange 16 concentration, adsorbent quantity and pH on the solution decolorization efficiency was analyzed. The efficiency of the Reactive Orange 16 removal using ferric oxide alumina doped exceeded 98% in 20 min at pH=3. The experimental data were fitted to the Langmuir equation better than to the Freundlich one. The pseudo-first-order model fits well with the experimental data for adsorption kinetics. © 2018 Authors. Published by the International Institute for the Science of Sintering.

AB - TiO2 nanopowders were produced by sol-gel technique using TiCl4 as a starting material. For the preparation of crystalline anatase with developed surface area, this aqueous solution has been mixed with 0.05 M or 0.07 M (NH4)(2)SO4 solution in a temperature-controlled bath. The pH values of the suspension were 7, 8 or 9. According to the x-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis the anatase crystallite sizes were about 12 nm, which coincided with the average particle size revealed by scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The Raman scattering measurements have shown the presence of a small amount of highly disordered brookite phase in addition to dominant anatase phase with similar nanostructure in all synthesized powders. BET measurements revealed that all synthesized catalysts were fully mesoporous, except the sample synthesized with 0.07 M (NH4)(2)SO4 at pH=9, which had small amount of micropores. The photocatalytic degradation of herbicide Clomazone was carried out for both the pure active substance and as the commercial product (GAMIT 4-EC) under UV irradiation. The best photocatalytic efficiency was obtained for the catalyst with the largest specific surface area, confirming this parameter as crucial for enhanced photocatalytic degradation of the pure active substance and commercial product of herbicide Clomazone.

AB - Titanium dioxide (TiO2) nanopowders were produced by sol-gel technique from tetrabutyl titanate as a precursor by varying some parameters of the sol-gel synthesis, such as temperature (500 and 550 degrees C) and the duration of calcination (1.5, 2 and 2.5 h). X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) results have shown that all synthesized nanopowders were dominantly in the anatase phase, with the presence of a small amount of rutile in samples calcined at 550 degrees C. According to the results obtained by the Williamson-Hall method, the anatase crystallite size was increased with the duration of the calcination (from 24 to 29 nm in samples calcined at lower temperature, and from 30 to 35 nm in samples calcined at higher temperature). The analysis of the shift and line-width of the most intensive anatase Eg Raman mode confirmed the XRPD results. The analysis of pore structure from nitrogen sorption experimental data described all samples as mesoporous, with mean pore diameters in the range of 5-8 nm. Nanopowder properties have been related to the photocatalytic activity, tested in degradation of the textile dye (C.I. Reactive Orange 16), car-bofuran ray scattering.

AB - The state of the tautomeric equilibria of 2(6)-hydroxy-4-methyl-6(2)-oxo-1-(substituted phenyl)-1,2(1,6)-dihydropyridine-3-carbonitriles, 2-PY/6-PY, was evaluated using experimental and theoretical methodology. The experimental data were interpreted with the aid of time-dependent density functional (TD-DFT) method. Electron charge density was obtained by the use of Quantum Theory of Atoms in Molecules, i.e. Baders analysis. Linear solvation energy relationships (LSER) rationalized solvent influence on tautomeric equilibrium. Linear free energy relationships (LFERs) were applied to the substituent-induced NMR chemical shifts (SCS) using SSP (single substituent parameter) and DSP (dual substituent parameter) model. Theoretical calculations and obtained correlations gave insight into the influence of molecular conformation on the transmission of substituent electronic effects, as well as on different solvent solute interactions, and the state of tautomeric equilibrium. AB - The optimized methods for N-alkyl and N,N-dialkyl substituted thioureas synthesis starting from ammonium thiocyanates, waste water constituent from the production of tetramethylthiuram monosulfide (TMTS), and alkyl amine, are presented in this work., Thioureas synthesis was developed in two ways: Method I-reaction of the thiocyanate and alkylamine in the presence of hydrochloric acid; Method II-reaction of the thiocyanate with benzoyl chloride following by amine addition in the first step, and base hydrolysis in the second step. The structure of the synthesized compounds was confirmed by IR, H-1- and C-13-NMR and MS instrumental methods, and purity was determined by high-performance liquid chromatography method. It is shown that the proposed methods offer a high degree of conversion and purity of product, absence of by-products and technological applicability at industrial scale. Considering the importance of the tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD) and TMTS as vulcanization accelerators as well as thiourea as the pharmacologically active compounds, it can be said that application of the optimized methods of thiourea synthesis will provide significant improvement in sustainable development and implementation of eco-friendly production technology. The described environmentally benign process of thioureas synthesis represents a suitable option to existing methods. thioureas, industrial level, thiocyanate.

AB - The diimine dioxime ligand, 3,3-(1,4-butanediyl-dinitrilo)bis-2-pentanone, 2,2-dioxime (LH2), containing a N-4 donor set was prepared by the Schiff base condensation of 2-hydroxyimino-3-pentanone and 1,4-diaminobutane in two ways: in a protic and in an aprotic solvent. A higher yield of the (LH2) imine was obtained when the synthesis was performed using a protic solvent (C2H5OH) instead of aprotic benzene (78 and 30 %, respectively). The Cu(II) metal complex of diimine dioxime was synthesized in CH3OH from the perchlorate salt of LH2 in a 1:1 mole ratio. The isolated complex was characterized by the elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry. The structure of [Cu-2(LH)(2)](ClO4)(2) was determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analysis. Comparison with structurally related diimine dioxime Cu(II) complexes revealed the influence of a weak Cu center dot center dot center dot O(perchlorate) interaction on the geometry of the metallocycle.

AB - Ultrafine CeO2-delta nanopowder, prepared by a simple and cost-effective self-propagating room temperature synthesis method (SPRT), showed high adsorption capability for removal of different azo dyes. Batch type of adsorption experiments with fixed initial pH value were conducted for the removal of Reactive Orange 16 (RO16), Methyl Orange (MO), and Mordant Blue 9 (MB9). The equilibrium adsorption data were evaluated using Freundlich and Langmuir isotherm models. The Langmuir model slightly better describes isotherm data for RO16 and MO, whereas the Freundlich model was found to best fit the isotherm data for MB9 over the whole concentration range. The maximum adsorption capacities, determined from isotherm data for MO, MB9, and RO16 were 113, 101, and 91 mg g(1) respectively. The adsorption process follows the pseudo-second-order kinetic model indicating the coexistence of chemisorption and physisorption. The mechanism of azo dye adsorption is also discussed.

AB - Novel diamine-dioxime ligand, 4,7-diaza-3,8-diethyldecane-2,9-dione bis oxime
(LH2), derivative of hexamethyl-propylene amine oxime (HMPAO), was
synthesized in order to develop new brain perfusion imaging agent, based on
99mTc(V) complexes. The 99mTc(V)-d,l-HMPAO complex is well-known
radiopharmaceutical for brain imaging. The structures of the synthesized
compound were characterized by UV-Vis, IR, 1
H NMR and 13C NMR. The
procedure for radiolabeling of diamine-dioxime with 99mTc was developed and
radiolabeling yield of the 99mTc-complex was followed by paper and thin-layer
chromatography. The maximum radiolabeling yield was obtained when the
reactions were carried out at pH~9 within 10 min at room temperature (RT).
Biodistribution studies on rats has shown significant uptake of 99mTc-complex
(2.1% ID), 2 min after injection.

AB - Two novel diamine dioxime ligands, 4,7-diaza-3,8-diethyldecane-2,9-dione bis oxime (3) and 4,9-diaza-3,10-diethyldodecane-2,11-dione bis oxime (5), were synthesized in order to develop new brain perfusion imaging agents, based on 99mTc(V)-complexes. The synthesis involved condensation of 2-hydroxyimino-3-pentanone with appropriate diamine in protic solvent which afforded the bis imine adducts. Subsequent reduction of imine functional groups yielded a diastereoisomeric mixture of 3 and 5. UVvisible, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and elemental analysis were used to characterize the structures of the synthesized compounds. 99mTc-complexes of both diamine dioximes were prepared and radiolabeling conditions optimized to give the maximum yield. Physicochemical parameters of the labeled complexes as well as and their biodistribution in rats were investigated. Both compounds (3 and 5) formed 99mTc-complexes with a net charge of zero, determined by electrophoresis. The resultant lipophilic 99mTc-complexes of 3 and 5 were readily formed at pH similar to 9.0 within 10?min at room temperature with yields of 90% and 95%, respectively. The 99mTc-3 complex was found to be stable within 1 similar to h, while 99mTc-5 was stable for a few hours. A significant brain uptake of 99mTc-3 (2.1% injected dose) and 99mTc-5 (1.8% injected dose) complexes, 2?min after injection, is in accordance with their lipophilicity. The present study suggests that both ligands are promising candidates as new 99mTc-based brain-imaging agents. Copyright (c) 2012 John Wiley and Sons, Ltd.

AB - The photocatalytic degradation of the synthetic textile dye CI Basic Yellow 28 (BY28) in water, using a recently synthesized P160 TiO2-based catalyst, under Osram ultra-vitalux (R) lamp (300 W) light, was studied. The effects of the operational parameters, such as initial concentration of catalyst, initial dye concentration and pH, were studied. The salt effect (NaCl, Na2CO3, Na2SO4 and NaNO3) was also investigated. It was found that the optimal concentration of catalyst is 2.0 g L-1. A pseudo first-order kinetic model was illustrated using the Langmuir-Hinshelwood mechanism and the adsorption equilibrium constant and the rate constant of the surface reaction were calculated (K-By = 6.126 L mg(-1) and k(C) = 0.272 mg L-1 min(-1), respectively). The photodegradation rate was higher in weak acidic than in high acidic and alkaline conditions. The presence of CO32- ions increased the photodegradation rate while Cl-, SO42- and NO3- decreased the reaction rate. The rate of photodegradation of BY28 was measured using UV-Vis spectroscopy.

abstract = "The photocatalytic degradation of the synthetic textile dye CI Basic Yellow 28 (BY28) in water, using a recently synthesized P160 TiO2-based catalyst, under Osram ultra-vitalux (R) lamp (300 W) light, was studied. AB - In this study, the feasibility of preparing porous TiO2 films on a stainless steel substrate from a hydrothermally prepared colloidal TiO2 solution by the spray pyrolysis technique is presented. The prepared samples were annealed at different temperatures and characterized by the XPS, XRD and SEM techniques, porosimetry and specific surface area measurements. The photocatalytic activities of the resulting films were evaluated by measuring the degradation of an azo pyridone dye, used as model pollutant, under simulated sunlight conditions. The relationships between the structural and morphological characteristics of the TiO2 films and their photoactivity were observed. It was found that the photoactivity was markedly dependent on the annealing temperature. On increasing the calcination temperature from 500 degrees C to 700 degrees C, the crystallite size and the rutile content increased, whereas the specific surface area and the rate of photodegradation decreased. Calcination at 700 degrees C resulted in a completely loss of photoactivity, due to the partial transformation of anatase to rutile phase, the increased crystallite size and decreased specific surface area. Specific activity (per unit of mass and per unit of surface area) was lowered within thicker films, pointing out significance of transport phenomena through porous films (the transport of dye and the transmittance of light as immaterial reagent). Based on the obtained results, the spray pyrolysis method appears to be a good choice for the preparation of photocatalytically active TiO2 films for the removal of dye pollutants. AB - This paper reports synthesis of a new diaminodioxime ligand, derivative of
hexamethylpropyleneamine oxime (HM-PAO). The 99mTc(V)-d,l-HM-PAO
complex is well-known radiopharmaceutical for regional blood flow imaging. The
structure of the new ligand was investigated by elemental analysis, IR, 1H and 13C
NMR. Complexation studies with 99mTc were carried out using stannous chloride as
the reducing agent. The complex was characterized by paper chromatography and
thin-layer chromatography. It was obtained in high yield when the reactions were
carried out at pH=9. Also, it was found that the complex was stable up to 4 h.
