AB - The 137Cs activity concentrations in six undisturbed soil profiles collected
during 2013 in the basin of Pčinja River, southeastern Serbia, were
determined gamma-ray spectrometrically. Average value of six undisturbed
soil profiles by layers was calculated and vertical distribution of 137Cs
activity concentration at 5 cm interval samples was shown by average
profile. The 137Cs activity concentrations varied between 0.29 and 70.9 Bq
kg-1 with a mean of 10.7 Bq kg-1. Even 27 years after Chernobyl accident
74% of deposited 137Cs was found in the first 20 cm of the soil.

X ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and inductively coupled
plasma (ICP) spectrometry for the first time ever. The X ray measurements showed
amorphous structure of the bryozoan, while SEM indicated porous connected
structure without regular structural motifs. Considerable presence of phosphorus
(7949.69 μg/ml), sulphur (6204.7 μg/ml) and calcium (6139.58 μg/ml), as well as
low heavy metal content was found by ICP. The obtained results jointly indicate

AB - Fine yttrium oxide powders doped with Yb3+ and co-doped either with Tm3+ or Ho3+ were synthesized via spray pyrolysis at 900 °C using 0.1 M nitrate precursor. Synthesized powders were additionally thermally treated at 1100 °C for 24h. The characterization was done through X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and photoluminescent measurements (PL). Generation of cubic bixbyte-structure with space group Ia-3 is confirmed in all samples. Spherical particles with the mean size of ~ 380 nm generated through volume precipitation and collision of much smaller nano grains expose certain degree of porosity which increase further with the powder calcination. Powder’s optical characterization includes infrared, visible and ultraviolet spectra measurements as well as determination of the lifetime. The amplified emission intensities and enhanced lifetime in thermally treated samples are correlated with the powders morphological and structural changes.

AB - Over the past years, Rare Earth (RE3+) ions doped materials have been attracted a great deal of interest due to the potential application for optical temperature sensors. Luminescence properties of these materials are sensitive and changeable with temperature. Here, we have investigated yttrium oxide doped with Yb3+ and Er3+ that was synthesized through spray pyrolysis method at 900 °C and afterwards additionally thermally treated at 1100 °C for either 12, 24 or 48h. Structural and morphological characterizations were done through X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The obtained particles were spherical in shape and crystallized in cubic bixbyte structure with space group Ia-3. Photoluminescent measurements (PL) were recorded using the 978 nm exciting wavelength as a function of temperature in the range from 10 K to 300 K. Emission spectra are assigned to the following trivalent erbium f-f electronic transitions: 2H9/2→4I15/2 (blue: 407-420 nm), (2H11/2, 4S3/2) → 4I15/2 (green: 510-590 nm), and 4F9/2→4I15/2 (red: 640-720 nm). The fluorescent intensity ratio of the blue, green and red areas under emission bands was also examined and showed significant temperature sensitivity, with the largest value of 2.7 K-1.

AB - We consider the general results of the theory of the polarizational bremsstrahlung (BrS) and we present the results of recent calculations of the cross sections in the conditions when the radiation of atomic electrons dominates in the total spectrum. For example, we investigated the case when the frequency of the emitted photon is comparable with the energy of the great dipole or plasmon resonance in a cluster (fullerene).
