AB - In this paper we present results of the determination of the statistical precision of the branching fraction measurement, for Higgs decaying to 𝑍 𝑍∗ pairs at 3 TeV and 350 GeV CLIC. Measurements are simulated with the CLIC_ILD detector model, taking into consideration all relevant physics and beam-induced background processes. It is shown that the product of the branching fraction 𝐵𝑅(𝐻 → 𝑍 𝑍∗ ) and the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with a relative statistical uncertainty of 3% (20%) at 3 TeV (350 GeV) center-of-mass energy, using semileptonic final states and assuming an integrated luminosity of 5 (1) ab−1 .

AB - The very forward region is one of the most challenging regions to instrument at a future e+e− collider. Machine-detector interface at CEPC will include a calorimeter dedicated for precision measurement of the integrated luminosity at a permill level or better. We discuss a feasibility of such precision from the point of view of systematic effects arising from luminometer mechanical precision and positioning, beam-related requirements and physics background. Additionally, a method of the beam energy spread determination, initially proposed for FCC, is discussed for the CEPC beams, as well as the impact of beam energy spread uncertainty on integrated luminosity measurement and the precision of electroweak observables determination at the Z0 pole.

AB - In this talk we discuss the CP violation in the Higgs sector under assumption that Higgs is a mixture of CP even and odd states. Study is done in ZZ-fusion, at the intermediate energy stage of CLIC, in full simulation of a detector and machine and physics related backgrounds. By measuring kinematic properties of electron and positron in the final state, in the Higgs exlusive decay to bb¯ to reduce backgrounds, we discuss the statistical precision of CP-violating mixing angle measurement with 2.5 ab−1 of data.

AB - Even though the environment at future e+e- colliders is practically QCD background free, there is a large number of processes with high cross-sections and/or similar topology as the Higgs signal of interest. Maximization of the achievable precision of measurements in the Higgs sector and beyond calls for optimized event selection with respect to the statistical significance. This is where the Multivariate Analysis (MVA) is employed, separating the signal from numerous backgrounds on the basis of their kinematic and other properties. In this paper, we discuss the basics of MVA, its application and performance, in examples of several Higgs analyses done in our group using full simulation of the CLIC data.

AB - In this talk we address a full simulation of experimental measurement of the Standard Model Higgs boson decaying to di-photon at 3 TeV center-of-mass energy at the Compact Linear Collider (CLIC). Photons are massless and do not couple to Higgs boson at the tree level, but rather are created in a loop exchange of heavy particles either from the Standard Model or beyond. Any deviation of the Higgs to 𝛾𝛾 branching fraction and consequently of the Higgs to photon coupling may indicate a New Physics. It is shown that the product of the Higgs production cross section in WW-fusion and BR (𝐻 −→ 𝛾𝛾) , as the observable for determination of the Higgs to photon coupling, can be measured with a relative statistical precision of 5.5%, assuming the integrated luminosity of 5 ab−1 and unpolarized beams.

AB - The very forward region is one of the most challenging regions to instrument at a future e + e - collider. At CEPC, machine-detector interface includes, among others, a calorimeter dedicated for precision measurement of the integrated luminosity at a per mill level or better. Here we review a feasibility of such precision, from the point of view of systematic effects arising from luminometer mechanical precision and positioning, beam-related requirements and physics background from two-photon processes. The impact of the beam energy spread and its uncertainty on the integrated luminosity precision is also discussed, as well as the achievable beam energy spread precision with the post-CDR CEPC beams. © 2022 IOP Publishing Ltd and Sissa Medialab.

AB - The violation of CP symmetry is one of Sakharov's conditions for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. Currently known sources of CP violation in the quark and neutrino sectors are insufficient to account for this. Is CP also violated in the Higgs sector? Could the SM-like Higgs boson be a mixture of even and odd CP states of an extended Higgs sector? With what precision could such effects be measured at future electron-positron colliders? These questions will be discussed in the light of the latest and ongoing studies at ILC.

AB - In this paper we address the potential of a 3 TeV center-of-mass energy Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) to measure the Standard Model (SM) Higgs boson decay to two photons. Since photons are massless, they are not coupled to the Higgs boson at tree level, but they are created in a loop exchange of heavy particles either from the Standard Model or beyond. Any deviation of the effective H → γγ branching ratio and consequently of the Higgs to photon coupling may indicate New Physics. The Higgs decay to two photons is thus an interesting probe of the Higgs sector, both at the running and future experiments. A similar study has been performed at 1.4 TeV CLIC, where the statistical uncertainty is determined to be 15% for an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab−1 with unpolarized beams. This study is performed using a full simulation of the detector for CLIC and by considering all relevant physics and beam-induced processes in a full reconstruction chain. The measurement is simulated on 5000 pseudo-experiments and the relative statistical uncertainty is extracted from the pull distribution. It is shown that the Higgs production cross-section in W+W− fusion times the branching ratio BR(H → γγ) can be measured with a relative statistical accuracy of 8.2%, assuming an integrated luminosity of 5 ab−1 with unpolarized beams.

AB - The ILD detector is proposed for an electron-positron collider with collision centre-of-mass energies from 90~\GeV~to about 1~\TeV. It has been developed over the last 10 years by an international team of scientists with the goal to design and eventually propose a fully integrated detector, primarily for the International Linear Collider, ILC. In this report the fundamental ideas and concepts behind the ILD detector are discussed and the technologies needed for the realisation of the detector are reviewed. The document starts with a short review of the science goals of the ILC, and how the goals can be achieved today with the detector technologies at hand. After a discussion of the ILC and the environment in which the experiment will take place, the detector is described in more detail, including the status of the development of the technologies foreseen for each subdetector. The integration of the different sub-systems into an integrated detector is discussed, as is the interface between the detector and the collider. This is followed by a concise summary of the benchmarking which has been performed in order to find an optimal balance between performance and cost. To the end the costing methodology used by ILD is presented, and an updated cost estimate for the detector is presented. The report closes with a summary of the current status and of planned future actions.

AB - Any asymmetry in energy of the colliding beams will lead to a longitudinal boost of the center-of-mass frame of colliding particles w.r.t. the laboratory frame and consequently to the counting loss in luminometer due to the loss of colinearity of Bhabha final states. At CEPC running at the Z0 pole, asymmetry in energy of the colliding beams should be known as well as 12.5% of the beam-spread, in order to control the uncertainty of Bhabha count at the level of 10-4. Here we discuss the method, initially proposed for FCCee, to determine variation of the beam-spread from the measurement of the effective center-of-mass energy in e+e-→μ+μ- collisions.

AB - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is a proposed future high-luminosity linear electron-positron collider operating at three energy stages, with nominal centre-of-mass energies s = 380 GeV, 1.5 TeV, and 3 TeV. Its aim is to explore the energy frontier, providing sensitivity to physics beyond the Standard Model (BSM) and precision measurements of Standard Model processes with an emphasis on Higgs boson and top-quark physics. The opportunities for top-quark physics at CLIC are discussed in this paper. The initial stage of operation focuses on top-quark pair production measurements, as well as the search for rare flavour-changing neutral current (FCNC) top-quark decays. It also includes a top-quark pair production threshold scan around 350 GeV which provides a precise measurement of the top-quark mass in a well-defined theoretical framework. At the higher-energy stages, studies are made of top-quark pairs produced in association with other particles. A study of t̄tH production including the extraction of the top Yukawa coupling is presented as well as a study of vector boson fusion (VBF) production, which gives direct access to high-energy electroweak interactions. Operation above 1 TeV leads to more highly collimated jet environments where dedicated methods are used to analyse the jet constituents. These techniques enable studies of the top-quark pair production, and hence the sensitivity to BSM physics, to be extended to higher energies. This paper also includes phenomenological interpretations that may be performed using the results from the extensive top-quark physics programme at CLIC. AB - A new design of a detector plane of sub-millimetre thickness for an electromagnetic sampling calorimeter is presented. It is intended to be used in the luminometers LumiCal and BeamCal in future linear e+e- collider experiments. The detector planes were produced utilising novel connectivity scheme technologies. They were installed in a compact prototype of the calorimeter and tested at DESY with an electron beam of energy 1–5 GeV. The performance of a prototype of a compact LumiCal comprising eight detector planes was studied. The effective Molière radius at 5 GeV was determined to be (8.1 ± 0.1 (stat) ± 0.3 (syst)) mm, a value well reproduced by the Monte Carlo (MC) simulation (8.4 ± 0.1) mm. The dependence of the effective Molière radius on the electron energy in the range 1–5 GeV was also studied. Good agreement was obtained between data and MC simulation. © 2019, The Author(s).

AB - The Compact Linear Collider (CLIC) is an option for a future e(+) e(-) collider operating at centre-of-mass energies up to 3 TeV, providing sensitivity to a wide range of new physics phenomena and precision physics measurements at the energy frontier. This paper is the first comprehensive presentation of the Higgs physics reach of CLIC operating at three energy stages: root s = 350 GeV, 1.4 and 3 TeV. The initial stage of operation allows the study of Higgs boson production in Higgsstrahlung (e(+) e(-) - GT ZH) and WW-fusion (e(+) e(-) - GT H nu(e) (nu) over bar (e)), resulting in precise measurements of the production cross sections, the Higgs total decay width Gamma(H), and model-independent determinations of the Higgs couplings. Operation at root s GT 1 TeV provides high-statistics samples of Higgs bosons produced through WW-fusion, enabling tight constraints on the Higgs boson couplings. Studies of the rarer processes e(+) e(-) - GT t (t) over barH and e(+) e(-) - GT HH nu(e) (nu) over bar (e) allow measurements of the top Yukawa coupling and the Higgs boson self-coupling. This paper presents detailed studies of the precision achievable with Higgs measurements at CLIC and describes the interpretation of these measurements in a global fit.

AB - The measurement of the Higgs production cross-section times the branching ratios for its decays into mu(+)mu(-) and ZZ* pairs at a 1.4 TeV CLIC collider is investigated in this paper. The Standard Model Higgs boson with a mass of 126 GeV is dominantly produced via WW fusion in e(+)e(-) collisions at 1.4 TeV centre-of-mass energy. Analyses of both decay channels are based on a full simulation of the CLIC_ ILD detector. All relevant physics and beam-induced background processes are taken into account. An integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab(-1) and unpolarised beams are assumed. For the H - GT ZZ* decay, the purely hadronic final state (ZZ* - GT q (q) over barq (q) over bar) is considered as well as ZZ* decays into two jets and two leptons (ZZ* - GT qql(+)l(-)). It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a muon pair times the Higgs production cross-section can be measured with 38% statistical uncertainty. It is also shown that the statistical uncertainty of the Higgs branching ratio for decay into a Z boson pair times the Higgs production crosssection can be measured with a precision of 18.3% and 5.6% for the hadronic and semi-leptonic ZZ* decays, respectively.

AB - The future compact linear collider (CLIC) offers a possibility for a rich precision physics programme, in particular in the Higgs sector through the energy staging. This is the first paper addressing the measurement of the standard model Higgs boson decay into two muons at 1.4 TeV CLIC. With respect to similar studies at future linear colliders, this paper includes several novel contributions to the statistical uncertainty of the measurement. The latter includes the equivalent photon approximation employed to describe e(+) e(-) and e gamma interactions whenever the virtuality of the mediated photon is smaller than 4 GeV and realistic forward electron tagging based on energy deposition maps in the forward calorimeters, as well as several processes with the Beam-strahlung photons that results in irreducible contribution to the signal. In addition, coincidence of the Bhabha scattering with the signal and background processes is considered, altering the signal selection efficiency. The study is performed using a fully simulated CLIC_ILD detector model. It is shown that the branching ratio for the Higgs decay into a pair of muons BR(H - GT mu(+) mu(-)) times the Higgs production cross-section in WW-fusion sigma(H nu(nu) over bar) can be measured with 38% statistical accuracy at root s = 1.4 TeV, assuming an integrated luminosity of 1.5 ab(-1) with unpolarised beams. If 80 % electron beam polarisation is considered, the statistical uncertainty of the measurement is reduced to 25 %. Systematic uncertainties are negligible in comparison to the statistical uncertainty.
