AB  - The contemporary market conditions impose increasingly strict requirements on organizations. Orientation towards product quality is one of the optimum strategies enabling survival and development in the ever more globalized market. The business practice required by ISO 9001 standard is often insufficient for an organization to survive in the market. Therefore many organizations, in addition to developing and implementing Quality Management System (QMS), optimize their operative processes by implementing the Lean tools. The paper provides a concept of interconnecting the ISO 9001:2015 standard requirements with the possible Lean tools deployment, which is to contribute to promoting effectiveness of the implemented QMS. © 2019 IOP Publishing Ltd.

Experimental and numerical study of globe valve housing

AB  - Complex structure experimental analysis has always been a huge challenge for researchers. Conventional experimental methods (e.g., strain gauges) give only limited data sets regarding measurement on critical areas with high geometrical discontinuities. A 3D Digital Image Correlation method is an optical method that overcomes the limitations of conventional methods and enables full-field displacement and strain measurement of geometrically complex structures. System Aramis, based on Digital Image Correlation method, is used for experimental analysis and numerical model verification in this paper. Investigated complex structure is sphere/cylinder junction on globe valve housing subjected to axial loading. The highest experimentally measured von Mises strain values around 0.15% are recorded on cylinder/sphere intersection. Von Mises strain values on cylindrical and spherical part are several times smaller than on intersection itself. It is important to emphasize that, to the authors best knowledge, this is the first paper showing experimental results of 3D full and strain field of geometrically complex structure (sphere/cylinder intersection) on the intersection itself on pressure equipment. It is proven that 3D Digital Image Correlation method is fast and versatile method for recording strain during loading of complex structures.

Methodology for Periodic Compliance Control of Composite Reservoirs Installation in Motor Vehicles

AB  - The paper points out the problem of periodic compliance control of composite reservoirs installation in motor vehicles and necessity of designing methodologies in this field. The survey indicated that with expert systems application periodic compliance of composite reservoirs installation can be achieved. The paper presents the design of an expert system for visual control of composite tanks for storing compressed natural gas as a fuel for motor vehicles, using a shell expert system as a tool to design the knowledge base. The knowledge base is designed using production rules. The expert system is tested on a concrete example. The research results point to the possibility of periodical compliance control of composite reservoirs installation in motor vehicles using designed knowledge base. Also, the quality of visual control, reducing the time for analysis and reasoning on the state of composite reservoirs and auxiliary equipment for storing compressed natural gas as a fuel for motor vehicles, is achieved using the designed expert system.

Implementation of new international standards for certification and inspection bodies

AB  - The paper provides a general review of accreditation as an effective and eficient means for provi- sion of competence, impartiality, independence and integrity of conformity assessing organizations, which creates conidence of all interested parties into the results of testing, inspection and certiica- tion of products processes and services. Implementation of international standards, as the accredita- tion proceedings brought into accord, provides similar levels of competence of conformity assessing bodies in all states and obtaining comparable results, thus contributing, within different international and regional agreements, to the possibility of creating mutual recognition of conformity documents - i.e. reports and certiicates. New requirements are presented brought about by the new standards of SRPS ISOlIEC 17065:2013 and SRPS ISOlIEC 17020:2012, as well as their application in the certiication and inspection body Vinca Institute.

AB  - Globe valves have widespread application in various industrial sectors. Due to this variety, valve is subjected to different working loads (static, dynamic, thermal etc.) that can cause valve failures. In this paper, the analysis is performed on globe valve subjected to external axial loading caused by pipeline dilatations. Experimental analysis was focused on determining local mechanical properties of critical areas, i.e. on local areas of globe valve housing with high geometrical discontinuities. Experimental analysis and numerical model verification were performed using system Aramis based on Digital Image Correlation method. Using full-field experimental results, numerical model behavior was improved and enabled acquiring more accurate results in transition areas that cannot be found in currently available literature. Determining local mechanical properties of critical areas enables better understanding of complex structures such as valve housing and provides an opportunity for further development and improvement for practical industrial application.

Technical Product Risk Assessment Integration Into the Enterprise Risk Management

AB  - In the nineties of the previous century, the European Union achieved, through introducing the New and Global Approach to technical harmonization and standardization, a significant improvement in the approach to conformity assessment of products, by integrating the requirements for technical products safety into the process of its designing. This was achieved by preventive analysing and quantifying of risk levels in the design process with the objective of determining the scope of the needed safety systems. On the other hand, we have witnessed a rapid development and implementation of holistic approaches to risks management in enterprises, unified in the modern business practice by the name of Enterprise Risk Management (ERM). Going along that line, the paper presents the basis of the EU New and Global Approach and gives an approach to integrating New Approach Directives risk assessment into the holistic approach of risks management in organization, such as ERM.

AB  - Robust vehicle design for improved reliability and quality has been one of the key areas of interest in the automotive industry for a number of years. Based on this approach, reliability is designed into the vehicle following a rigorous vehicle design and development process coupled with appropriate design methods, such as failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA), quality function deployment (QFD), design of experiments (DoE), the Taguchi method, and others. While significant progress has been achieved to date in improving the reliability and quality of vehicles, there is still some need to incorporate parts and subsystems with specific reliability functions within the vehicle system reliability model early in the design concept stage and throughout the vehicle design process so that the reliability of systems and subsystems can be designed-in with more confidence. A comprehensive design for reliability model for critical vehicle systems and subsystems coupled with the failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) method could help identify and alleviate potential failure modes, and hence maximize vehicle reliability. This article proposes a design for reliability process that aims to achieve this particular outcome in the case of a mechanical vehicle transmission system. A detailed case study involving design for reliability of a vehicle transmission system is presented.

AB  - With the worldwide competition being so strong, it is essential for motor vehicles to have high reliability. The methodology for motor vehicle reliability design, namely Power Transmission (PT) of vehicle, is one of the ways to reach this objective. The stage of design is the most important one in the life cycle of a motor vehicle. Reliability design, within the designing stage, correlates directly with the vehicle reliability. The problem of a practical vehicle design methodology has been solved by developing a methodology suited to the purpose. The basis of the developed methodology represents a contemporary approach to designing, comprising the phases of conceptual, preliminary and detail designs, with applying of the reliability design method within these phases.

AB  - High-frequency cyclic load of fresh air supply to ventilator blades in thermo energetic facilities can cause the occurrence of fretting in the pressed overlap of ventilator shaft and socket. These loads can be generated by the resonant oscillations of ventilator blades and thermal residual stress due to welding. To prevent running in resonant conditions, the manufacturer of the ventilator defined a procedure of adjusting blades natural frequency in the process of production, as well as period control during exploitation period The numerical simulations and the accelerations measured and presented in this paper, enabling analysis of mass changes and rotation rate effects on resonant oscillations occurrence in fresh air ventilator.

In this paper procedures for measuring and verifying the four heavy metals in various packaging materials, developed in Laboratory for physical chemistry in "Vinča" Institute of nuclear sciences, are described.
