Xanthates are considered to be the most widely used reagents in the flotation processing of sulphide ores, and therefore are largely present in flotation tailings as residuals. Since xanthates posses a certain toxicity and numerous negative effects from an ecological point of view, it is very important to find a suitable solution for their removal from aqueous solutions. In this study, the removal of xanthate from aqueous solutions was investigated using modified waste slag as promising adsorbent. For that purpose, two different starting concentrations of xanthates were selected, -20, and 90 mg/l. The obtained results showed that over 90% of residual xanthate from the aqueous solution can be removed in a period of 24 hours by using modified waste slag when its initial concentration is 20 mg/dm3 .
