Perturbed angular correlation (PAC) has for many years been a productive experimental technique for obtaining information about the static and dynamic behaviour oi local and electronic structures of solids on a microscopic scale, without changing the main properties of the material. This article contains an outline of the basic principles of PAC. A summary of the technique and experimental requirements is given, followed by a brief discussion of the parameters which can be extracted from the PAC measurements. Some examples, then, illustrate the recent developments in the applications to the problems of interest fur materials science, mainly performed at VINCA Institute.en
