Tensile characteristics of carbon fibres
Апстракт
In single filament tensile tests with different gauge length, the macromechanical tensile properties of carbon fibres (strength, failure strain and modulus) have been determined. By calculating system compliance, the experimental failure strain and modulus values were converted to the corrected values. By correlating corrected modulus and failure strain values, for experimental strain range [4 x 10(-3) to 12 x 10(-3)] and gauge lengths from 21 to 49 mm, the analytical expression for linear dependence of corrected fibre modulus on corrected failure strain was deduced. Size effect in tested fibres was studied by making comparison between strength and strain variability with decrease of tensile strength (failure strain) with increasing gauge length.
