On the axial variation of the electron density in a plasma column of the surfatron type

This paper deals with the axial structure of the electron density in the central portion of a plasma of the surfatron type. The point of departure is an expression for the attenuation coefficient which includes the dielectric loss in the glass envelope of the discharge, applied to the geometry of the round plasma cylinder. The influence of the loss tangent on the axial distribution is examined.
